Default IPOD connector

Have anyone used this IPOD connector from Double D Mods. It is called GM IPOD and IPHONE lockpick interface. I have a 05 with NAV/XM and I want to hook up my IPOD to it. Does this connector charge the IPOD also? I know there is another IPOD connector from GM called PAL. All I want is to play my IPOD and power it from the say connector. Thanks for any feedback.

Yes, it charges the internal battery. I have had mine for about two years now and has always worked flawlessly since install.

I have the original Lockpick but plan to upgrade to the Lockpick 360 which lets you add a rearview camera and video playback on your factory Nav screen...

There are quite a few different iPod interfaces available for the C6 Corvette. In 2009, I purchased all that were available, then tested and reviewed them for comparison purposes. On my main website:

http://www.kawal.net/vettemods.htm

you'll find a link to that review. I'm not going to knock anyone's product, but if you read about the features and operation of each interface, you can decide for yourself which is the best.

I offer the GM Version 2 PAL because it was designed specifically for the C6 Corvette, originally for the factory Nav radio and later included the non-Nav radios as well. When comparing iPod interfaces, take a look at a few features:

1. Does it integrate with the Corvette HUD?
2. Do the buttons (soft keys) on the Nav screen indicate the function that the button actually does? Or do you have to memorize functions for that button, for example "Preset Button 3" does an artist search, etc.? Most iPod interfaces are built for a variety of vehicles, so many can't offer these features because they aren't designed for a specific radio.
3. Are there extensive search features obtainable by simply pushing a specific labeled button?
4. How do you install the interface? If you have XM, there is no reason to choose an interface that forces you to remove the radio when a very simple XM installation can be done. Some interfaces offer an XM installation, and some don't. In many vehicles, the radio can be removed in a couple of minutes, but in the C6 Corvette, an XM installation can be done in a parking lot without any tools while removing the radio is far bigger job than many owners want to tackle.

Again, I'm not going to knock other products, but I don't believe anyone can claim a superior interface for the C6 Corvette to that of the Version 2 PAL.
