So i picked up my second C6 (07 z51 coupe) a little while ago and it is way better than my 05 was. I saw that the trunk keys were Saturn brand, which i thought was weird, but never really worried about it. I tried to use it today and it worked... but the car alarm went off. I don't remember this happening in the 05... is this normal? Should I make the dealer get me Chevy brand? i personally don't care about them being Saturn brand, I just want it to work.
The Saturn brand name on the key probably means the keys are duplicates of the originals and whoever made them didn't have a key with the correct label on it. GM didn't ship the car with a Saturn Label stuck on the keys.
Your car is doing exactly what it's supposed to do!!!
If your car is locked and the theft deterrent system is active, when you open the hatch/trunk with the key the alarm will go off.
If your car is unlocked and you open the hatch/trunk with the key, the alarm won't go off.
Go out to your car and unlock it - either push the unlock button on the fob, or just simply open the driver's door - then go back and use the key and the alarm will not activate.
So....when your car was locked and the alarm went off it was doing just what it should do.
BTW, I had a couple Saturn B106 key blanks cut for my C6, one of which I keep in my wallet so I have an extra available in the event I somehow lock my fob in the car.
