To PittMD1- Glad to hear you had a good experience. Get back to us in a month or so when the transaction you agreed to does not take place as planned... my situation should never have happened based on a pleasant rep I talked to in December, but it did! I had to talk to several people to cancel the radio on a vehicle that was traded, and had the same issues several years ago when one of my wife's cars was totaled after a rollover. I'd be interested how they will take 'auto renew' of your cc when it has been pointed out here that auto renew is a part of the agreement. Good luck if it all works out; you will be one of the chosen few if it does...
Going on 6 years at $77 (plus royalties and mailed invoice). Just tell them you want to cancel. Be firm. Listen to the "deals". Call them 1 week prior to renewal date.
Same here, have had XM since getting my Vette in 07. Paid the customary $77 rate until the royalty charges came in. Went up to $88. Received bill this year to renew at $ 194 ( WTF ) !!!!!!!!!!!! Called XM and said CANCEL....The young lady ( must assume AND she spoke excellent English ) came right back and asked why I was going to cancel.....she asked is the price too high..DA !!
Anyway, she asked if I would renew for $105......NO. She then asked if I would renew for last years rate.....I did. I like XM while on road trips between Tampa & the GA mountains.....if I did not do highway miles I would cancel XM and go with I-Pod & HD.

Another thing we should all remember, the credit card company in most cases is your friend, they work for you and they have an interest in keeping your business. I have Chase and they have been VERY friendly in resolving the few disputes I've had with merchants and they have always sided with me...contact your CC company and explain the situation, I'm sure they will help!
Spent 45 minutes last night on hold while I restarted my XM service from sesonal suspension. They restarted the service easily enough but as I was at my computer I see the account due jumps to $100 for six month renewal. Luckily I still had the rep on the phone. Thats when it took 45 minutes to finally get XM to understand that I was restarting a current subscription that was already paid for not renewing.
Took advantage of having the rep on the line to remove my CC info from my account. You cannot do that online, must call the service to do that.
There is an option online to make a "one-time" payment with a CC and it does not save the CC information to your account, I checked that to make sure.
They probably don't know. Just call them about a week or two before it expires and ask them how much the new year will cost.
However, they will probably already have sent you a bill for the new year and it will tell you how much. Typical is about $150 a year.
When you see or hear the new year amount, ask for the cancellation department if you don't like the price. They'll probably offer you another year at a good price.
That is what I did for three years until I decided I did not want XM anymore, I wrote a month before renewal and told them I did not want XM to renew and they canceled me with zero issues.

I understand where your coming from and I reserve the right to bitch about it if things go wrong.
I hope it's not as bad as trying to get DirecTV to understand we don't want the service when we move in a couple of weeks. They would not let my wife cancel because we did not give them a reason why we didn't want it any more. Told us we had to give them a reason why we were dissatisfied. When I told them they pi$$ed me off with their questions they said they HAD to ask and HAD to have a reason they thought was valid.
See what the charge is for the lifetime service. I paid $400.00 and some change for the lifetime and paid $50.00 to have it transferred to the new vette from the old one.
