Default Navigation Question

I have a 2005 corvette factory installed OEM Navigation unit. When I purchased the car it came with the MAP DVD Version 1.00. My question is can I upgrade it to any other versions out there?

Also sometimes watch e-bay and other areas for deals on one-old versions that people might be selling

There is nothing new in the newer versions except map data and POI information. If you don't notice problems with those now THEN you won't see any difference with the upgrade. Even if you have issues the upgrade may not correct them. If I wanted a newer version I would certainly look seriously at "THE-BIG-AUCTION-WEB-SITE-THAT-SHALL-NOT-BE-MENTIONED-HERE-UNLESS-IB-WANTS-MONEY-FOR-DISPLAYING-THEIR-ADS".

I've got versions 3. and 5. Send me a PM and I'll send either one to you. I don't need them anymore. I'll need your name and address.

There may be other GM DVD's that will work, but there are certainly some that won't. Get the correct part # for whatever year you are looking to buy, and verify on this Forum that you are getting it.
Someone had a list of the # for all years up to 2011, I think.

Partly agree, partly disagree.

We've had factory nav since 2006 and buy the new disc each year because we drive the car all over the U.S. We want the latest data we can get.

Just like any factory nav system and even garmins, the data is always somewhat out of date. Newer discs are closer to being right but not perfect. But the system will get you where you want to go, 99% of the time. Just like other systems.

If you buy on flea bay, get the part# from the seller and verify here that it will work in your Corvette, some GM discs won't work.

A few years (2009-2011???) had two discs, east and west.

If you haven't done so already, look up the tutorial from talon90 on this Forum. Read and practice it, you may end up like me and prefer the C6 factory nav above the other 5 navs we own.

My 2008 NAV disk couldn't find my daughter's street in NC, even though it's been there since long before 2008. It also got lost looking for Fast Lane Rd in Mechanicsville, VA (where Zip Corvettes is located). I'm not sure an update would help those issues. I just use my TomTom whenever I need one that is easy to use, and works well.
