Has NOTHING TO DO with affording a Z06! Depends on what YOU want PERIOD! IF you can afford the GS you can afford the Z06!!
the starting MSRP difference between the GS coupe and the Z06 is just under $20K. That's a hefty difference...
Yes but in the used car market one can get a Z06 for the price of a GS though the Z06 may be a year older or more. My 2010 3k miles GS is about the same money as a 08 Z06 with low miles. Getting a new one is a different story. 20k could be a factor!

I agree---used, the price differential can be closer. Obviously availability of warranties (original and/or extended)
can also be another influencing factor in deciding new vs used.
