My car is still at build status 3000 but I should be getting to 3300 in the next week and a half. My car's build week is 4/9. I figured I'd call the museum and see if doing the museum delivery could tentatively be set for April 25th which would be two weeks after the car is built.
They told me that they couldn't do it on the 25th because of the C5/C6 bash being held a couple of days later. They are not doing any museum deliveries between the 19th and the 30th of April. I guess they use the floor for vendors and GM brings a bunch of cars for display. I can't do the delivery on the 18th because my car would not be ready (they need two weeks for quality control). The week of May 2nd won't work for me so I guess I have do the delivery on May 9th. So now I've got to wait another two weeks. So I'm looking at a little less than 8 weeks!
It's a shame that you can't find a way to make May 1st (which is a Tuesday) work. That way, you could come to the bash (which is an event not to be missed, especially by someone just picking up a new Corvette) and then drive your new car home. To me, that would be even better than going the buyer's tour. You might call the museum and ask them if there's any way you could take delivery of your car during the bash, even if it wasn't able to be displayed in the normal delivery bays. In your situation that's exactly what I would do. I can assure you that getting your new car at the bash would be an experience you'd never forget. Practically everyone there will be fantasizing about getting a new Corvette but you'd actually be doing it!
Mike's advice/suggestion sounds very good to me. Especially that part about being part of, and there for the Bash, as well as being an unforgettable, total experience. I can tell you this: most people who've done Museum Delivery can hardly forget how great it was. If there could be a way to do it DURING the Bash, it would just about be one of a kind, at least as an experience.
I've done the R8C and would do it again but if I were in your shoes I would ask for the keys during the bash without having the car parked inside, etc...
