Default Header question

Is there like a base line for headers by brands

example

Kooks>SW>american racing

and what is the difference between them by gains?

When I started doing my research a couple of years ago for my C5 I broused both the C5 and C6 sections here to dig up everything I could find. The two brands that came up the most was LG and American Racing. I decided to go with the AR's for four reasons...

1) LG's were on backorder
2) heard that LG's throw O2 sensor codes
3) AR took the time with me on the phone to answer all my questions and to help me with the best choice for my application
4) heard and read many great AR reviews about quality, fitment and performance

I began doing the same thing over the winter knowing I was going to get a C6 by spring. One thing I started hearing about LG is that they have cheapened the quality of their product recently (China). Don't know if it is true but it did lead me back to American Racing. I was happy with them on my C5, so why should I be unhappy with them in the C6.

No complaints at all. Love my AR's. The NPP exhaust sounds so much better now.

Short answer to your question (which many are not going to like) is NO. now that said, some vendors/shops will swear by Brand A. or Brand B., but every car will respond a little different to each header. I've come to this conclusion in the 8 or so years on the forum, talking to many different local tuners as well and mechanics.

Now, again, if you ask Brand A. who makes the most power , well, they will say Brand A! What a surprise...

It's no different than asking 3 different cell carriers who has the fastest network.... of course if you ask Sprint....they will say _____

etc etc...

LG, Kooks, SW, American Racing, Dynatech... you can't go wrong with any of them. Could you squeeze maybe 3-4HP out of say American Racing over Dynatech?? Maybe..but you would never even notice it., and this will vary by tuner anyway.

From what I was told a guy from kooks went and started AMERICAN RACING so qaulity should be right up there.I've had both and no issues anywhere.Currently, the one I just got has AM HEADERS on it already.

I had B&B duel mode exhaust installed on my 2007 c6 conv.which has 6500 miles on it. Sounds great but not like the old glass packs from the 60's The install included new x pipe. I was told headers were a waste of money and didn't add them @ the time. Now I would like headders and High flow cats. Do I have to purchase a new X pipe with the high flow cats?
Can i Just purchase headers and high flow cats & use my x pipe? Last ..What is a reasonable charge for this installation?
