I bought a 2008 C6 3LT convertible a couple of weeks ago with 14.5K miles for $38K from a dealer (good deal)?
The sun visor has a broken plastic latch on the mirror so I bought another one. Does anyone know how to get this sun visor out? It looks like you have to bend the sun visor where it inserts into the car and then slide out the rod. See the notch.
Thanks for any help.

Talon90 is the man with all the great DIY info. He has lots of great stuff in the official C6 mega thread DIY & FAQ in the sticky section.
I was just lucky enough to have used his info recently, and actually remembered where it was.
The DIY & FAQ sticky section is a great read for one that has hours to kill.
Word of advice, take your time doing this. These are difficult to make move initially. It's easy for the screwdriver to slip and scratch or damage something around the visor. Once the old visor is disconnected, the new one goes in pretty easily.
Service manual supposedly says bezel would be ruined if removed. Is it damaged in any way when removed? Just curious. GM doesn't do anything DIY friendly .
Scott I purchased my 08 3LT Nav, Chrome gumbys, vert last September with 9156 miles on it for $41,000. I think your deal was a good one.
Last week I was driving and I attempted to move the visor and I gripped it wrong and broke both hinges on the lighted vanity mirror. I am afraid the battery will be run down if the light doesn't switch off (the door of the mirror presses the on/off switch when closed). So I glued the hinges until I can replace the visor.
I checked the price and with the mirror and the transmitter buttons the visor was $351. Did you get yours cheaper?
Please post your replacement experience. I will use your experience to replace mine.

Not if you take your time and go slow. It's hard to make it release but once it does, easy removal and reinstall. My suggestion is you just sort of chill trying to remove them and if you can't get it the first time - walk away and come back.

I replaced the driver side visor on my '08 a few months ago; found one on the auction site for $177.50. It was from an '06 and had the Homelink transmitter instead of the Lear Car-2-U (which is what I wanted). It was in like new condition, fit perfectly, and was an exact match.

What to check for ......
The o/p's experience has me thinking that we need a "sticky" type of check list that can be added to of things to check for when buying used that would/could be over looked when buying a used Corvette.
I tried moving the sunvisor with the screwdriver per instructions but I couldn't do it. I'm going to have the dealer do it. I don't want to break it. I paid $380 for the visor at the dealer but this visor has the garage controls.
The vette I bought doesn't have Nav, but it has a head ups display, heated seats with memory, convertible obviously and other standard accoutrements. It is an automatic. I don't care about the Nav since I want to take my Nav in the hotel room and set up routes and you can't do that with the GM version (and the CD versions seems cheesy).
I'm going to have 3M clear tape installed on the front to protect it. Advantages/disadvantages? It cost $900 but it should protect the front. I'm going to wax the car before I take it in.

They have to remove wax before doing clear bra...so it might be best to wait until after they do it.

Smart move on your part. Having the dealer do it is cheap insurance. Plus, they have to warranty their work. Did you not know of the broken visor when you bought the car ?
I've tried twice to remove mine per DIY instructions, no kidding they do not release easy so I have walked away for good. I didn't want to push my luck past the effort I was applying and have the screwdriver slip and cause me a real headache. The seats, door panels and steering wheel were all a breeze compared to unlatching the sunvisors. I guess I can't win them all.

I knew the car had a broken visor when I bought it. I wanted a yellow convertible with a manual transmission but when I saw that the automatic transmission had manual paddle shifters I was sold. I couldn't resist. Corvettes do that to people.
LV2TOUR , thanks for posting this write up, Used the search function for removing the visor (since BOTH of them are broken now) and it took longer to find my flat head then it did to remove the visor ! Thank you.
Beware C6 Owners!! The Down South Vettes sun visor removal instructions referenced in this thread is for a C5 Corvette, NOT for a C6 Corvette. While the procedure is basically correct, on a C6 Corvette, when you insert your screwdriver into the visor bevel, and press upward, you turn a C6 sun visor (driver side) CLOCKWISE..ie towards the rear view mirror, NOT counter-clockwise towards the driver's door window, to release the sun visor. If you don't, you will snap off the plastic alingnment tab on your sun visor anchor bevel.
After replacing a few visors, using the standard instructions with the screwdriver, just by fluke, I found out that it's easily removed (without using a screwdriver) by pushing the driver visor towards the windshield until it unlocks, and lift out.
Replacing the driver visor, start it from the windshield, and slowly turn towards the door. Works perfect, and don't have to worry about scratching anything by using the screwdriver.
I'm not sure if the passenger visor would be the same, or opposite to remove and re-install.
