Default Telescoping not working

So u get in to come to a show today. Press 1 so my seat mirror and wheel move to my specs. Seat and mirrors work. Steering wheel is just stuck in the position all the way down. Could this be a fuse? I drive with it pulled closer to me. It doesn't do crap!! What gives? I guess it's also possible that a wire has been pinched inside the wheel maybe? Thoughts?

My first inclination would be a fuse. Whether it is in the underhood fuse box or in the right footwell the owners manual will show the location. Sorry I can't be more helpful, don't have the ZR1 model to check the manual.

My steering column sometimes dos not move to the "memory" position, but the button on the column always works. As posted above, I'd be looking for a fuse on yours.

Good luck!

Some general info to get you started:

Telescoping Description
The telescoping function of this column consists of the telescoping motor, the telescoping motor position sensor and the telescoping switch. The telescoping motor position sensor is an internal part of the telescoping steering motor. The telescoping switch operates the inward and outward movement of the steering wheel.

The energy absorbing and locking steering column includes three important features in addition to the steering function.

The steering column is energy absorbing and is designed to compress in a front-end collision which will lessen the chance of injury to the driver.
The steering column has a telescoping control system that consists of an electronic control module capable of class 2 serial data communication, a steering column power assembly with positioning motor and sensor, and a steering column control switch.
The multi-function lever provides for the control of the headlamp high beams, and the windshield washer and wiper.
The steering column may be removed, disassembled and reassembled with relative ease. It is important to use only the specified screws, bolts and nuts and to tighten them to the specified torque in order to ensure the proper energy absorbing functions. When the steering column assembly is removed from the vehicle, special care must be taken in handling it. Avoid the use of a steering wheel puller other than the special one recommended in this manual. Sharply striking the end of the steering shaft, leaning on the assembly or dropping the assembly could shear off or loosen the plastic fasteners which maintain the steering column rigidity.

Telescoping Operation
The telescoping steering column in/out switch is an input to the driver position module (DPM). The telescoping drive motor is an output function of the DPM.

Steering column memory settings are stored in the DPM. The steering column position sensor is an internal part of the telescoping motor assemblies, and is an input to the DPM. The DPM uses the position sensor input when storing and recalling memory settings.

Memory steering column, and the easy enter/exit operations are performed by the DPM. Commands for memory operations are sent to the DPM as class 2 messages by the driver door switch module (DDS).

I know you may have tried this but push # 1 then put the column where you want it and reset the memory for position # 1. Might work.

Thx guys. But the whole thing doesnt work. The button doesn't work at all. Blinkers and cruise worked on my trip to the show. Just had to drive with the wheel all the way to the dash. I locks and unlocks up and down. Just won't move toward me. The 1 and 2 buttons do nothing. I had already tried that. If u r unaware. On a ZR1 you have to always push 1 or 2 with the parking brake in for it to recall your settings for that driver. My coupe does it automatically when the car is started. The z does not. There was a thread on that a long time ago discussing if it had to do with being a manual trans. ??? Not sure. I'll get my book out and see where the fuses r and see if that's the issue. If not - oh no. A trip to a dealer! Aaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Mine stopped working months ago. I also recently realized my rear seat motor stopped working. Last week my battery started dying over night. The dealer said it was my Seat Control Module (SCM) causing the problems. I disconnected it and the battery stopped draining. Of course now I have no seat/memory controls.

Oh. That would make it hard to drive if you can't reach the pedals. Well. Ive got to get this fixed because it makes driving not as comfy. Doesnt deter the trip. Just not as relaxing as I'd like.

My telescoping wheel quit working along with the rest of my memory features periodicly. The dealer found some wires under the driver's seat loose. He said if that didn't fix the problem, he'd replace the memory moter that's under the seat. The wires took care of the problem. I have GMPP which covered the cost.

I have that as well so if it's something major I should be covered. I'm. It sure my warranty is out yet anyway.

LOL
My long legs don't hav an issue with the pedals and my seat is working. It's my wheel that's got the issue. You got a add on for that?? .
