Harmonic balancer replacement
I had some squeak from under the hood, sounded like belt needs to be replaced
Took it to the dealer and they told me that harmonic balancer bushing is gone and needs to be replaced
Is it common?
What could cause that?
Is there any aftermarket better part avail?

Wouldn't call it "common", but several have had the same issue. Caused by a bad part.
ATI makes an excellent, better than stock, part. However, some dealers will insist on stock GM to keep warranty intact. Your call. If it were me, I'd put the ATI unit on.

Its probably the MOST common corvette issue that had been discussed over and over again.... I just replaced mine with only 21k miles on the car. The dealer warrantied the part and the labor egen though im years out of warranty. Make enough of a stink about it print out as many pages as yoy can fi d on the issue and bring it to the dealer. If you push hard enough you will get them to warranty it even if yku are out of warranty.

Had ours replaced a couple months ago under extended warranty, the back again a couple weeks later to have it all done over again as the replacement was crap too...... Still about $400 out of pocket

It is common, lots of threads.
Just search "harmonic balancer" and way more info than I can type will pop up.
If you can avoid a stock replacement than do so. ATI makes the best but for half the price SLP make a great replacement. Good luck
