Default Steering Wheel Alignment

Right now when I am going straight down the road the center of the steering wheel is off to the left a few degrees. The tire alignment is fine I have no tire ware on the first or second set of tires.
This is a 08 and it’s been this way since I got it, I just never remembered to take it to the dealer when it was under warranty.
I don't want to mess with the alignment to do this I thought I could just remove the steering and move it back to the right a spine or two (that is if this steering wheel attachment is like others and has spines on the shaft and the wheel).
So my question is can I just take the steering wheel off and realign it?

I would not, that's not the correct way to fix this.

I have had wheels off other cars, but not the vette. You probably can, it's usually just a splined shaft, but it may just end up off too far the other way!!

They center the wheel as part of part of an alignment, so if otherwise good, I would live with it until you need an alignment, unless you want to eat the $$ now.

Take the car to a good alignment shop and have them correct the problem. It will save you time, money and headaches.

Be careful, there is an electronic steering wheel position sensor that has to be calibrated too...... not to mention the danger of setting off the airbag

I don't really want to get an alignment, unless something happen's like hitting a pot hole or a crub. So I hoping I can move the steering wheel its not a super big deal just one of those samll things that bug you over time.

For the air bag I would disconnect the battery before doing anything but I am not aware of the position sensor, I will look do some research on that don't want to make anything worse.
Thanks

The steering wheel can be centered without doing an alignment, however that procedure should be performed by an alignment guy. It's all about adjusting tie rods, not a big deal.

Do a search and you'll find a number of threads about this.

Here's one thread with DIY info:

You don't need to remove the steering wheel.

Excellent, that sounds exactly like what I need and seems to be pretty simple. I will try it ASAP.

If you try the DIY method, make sure you mark the inner and outer tie rods before making any adjustments as a point of reference.

If you are not sure about how to do it, I would let an alignment shop do it on an alignment rack.

If you turn the tie rods unequally you will start wearing tires.
