I typed in C6 Battery in the Search box and got pages and pages of threads, from C1-C6 IRT batteries. I have a thread about a dead battery yesterday, charged it and it seems fine. I'm worried that it will happen again, that dreaded Click when you hit the start button and not be at home in the garage as I was yesterday. I've read the owners manual about all the light functions to see if I left something on to cause the dead battery situation. It looks like there's a 10 minute shutoff function for most all, that I could find, electrical items. Now I'm wondering if the 3 year life this C6 has lived here in toasty Las Vegas might have caused the seemingly early possible death of the AC Delco 4357 battery. Called the dealer and the service writer says it's not uncommon, here in Las Vegas, to replace batteries after 3 years due to the heat.
I wanted to find, from the Search button, a thread in the C6 section about batteries and what some of you that have replaced your original battery have used for a replacement. Auto Zone has a Duralast 90-DLG for my 2010 C6 1LT. 600 CCA, 3 year replacement for $112.00.
I'm here in Vegas too. My AC Delco battery was 3 years old when it died the first time. It was my fault since I was leaving things turned on while working on the car. I charged it and it lasted another 6 months. I replaced it with a Die Hard Gold a year ago. I think it was $110. It's a great battery and good warranty.
Just got back from Auto Zone. They put their battery tester on the battery in the car and it tested 100%. I'm gonna keep an eye on it and if it happens again and I'm away from home I'll call AAA. One more time and I'll get the Die Hard battery, although the DuraLast Gold battery seems pretty good too.
My car only has 200 miles, but sat for 5 months in a warehouse before I bought it. My concern is cranking is weak, and checked battery and only has 5xx CCA, which seems puny for a large V8, especially with long wires from the trunk.
Hope somebody starts a thread about battery choices for a GS soon. I want to replace my battery for piece of mind, but with an AGM, like an Optima. Prefer somebody does it before me to make sure the fit is perfect, since I don't want to modify anything.
The Delcos seem to do well. Replace my OE with another Delco.
My experience also. Only disadvantage to the Delco is that if it dies while under warranty, you usually have to wait until a dealer is open (M-F) to get it replaced for free. Autozone, etc are open more days and hours.
Optima Red Top (Part 25 (8025-160)) I also put a new one of these in my '02 Suburban that sits and waits to tow the boat or snowmobiles. Always starts no matter how long it sits, or how cold it has been.
If you're gonna buy from Advance, best ordering online as usually running 15-20% off specials. Pick it up at their local store a little later. I have an Advance Auto Gold in one of my cars I got this way. 3 year free replacement, and 7 year pro. Very nice Power Frame design battery.
