Low beam lights will not stay on. Took to dealership they changes out switch leave dealership and lights go back out. Hi beam lights working fine no problem. Any suggestions what could be causing this problem.
In the fuse box in the engine compartment there is a mini-relay (#47) that controls both of the low beams.
As a test you can swap it with the Rear Defog mini-relay (#40). There have also been many posts about defective fuse boxes (bad/failing connections on the underside) requiring a replacement.
If your dealer's first and only attempt to fix this was to replace the stalk/switch, find a new/better dealer.
Have you had a chance to try the fuse as suggested? Please feel free to contact me or Evan privately with the last eight of your VIN if you need more assistance. Thank you in advance.

There was a recall on the fuse boxes for certain years that affects the low beams, check and see if your car was included in the recall and whether or not the fix has been done. Another possibility is that you could either have bad ballasts or bulbs or a combination of the two, I suggest you ask the dealer if these have been checked, if not I'd suggest going to a different dealer because these in addition to the fuse and relay should have been checked prior to replace the stock.
There are a number of posts on the problem with no low beam headlights. I opened up the under the hood fuse box (it's a pain, but it can be done) and found a burned wire...pointed out on the pic below.....and then went to Home Depot and purchased a foot of home door bell wire and stripped one clean and placed it as a jumper as shown on the other pic......it's the "silver colored wire" on the very "top" of the fuse box pins. just follow the pic to set the wire into the correct pins. Worked like a charm and no problems since.
Burned wire as shown with the pointer on the very bottom of the fuse box The "jumper" wire in the one on the very top of this pic (silver color).....
In the first picture above with the burnt wire, do you remove it or just let it be and add the jumper as shown in the second picture? Can you jump that burnt wire from side to side, bye passing the burnt area? I’m confused.
No need to remove the "burnt" wire.......in my first attempt to fix the problem, I replaced the burnt wire and it burned again......so I just left it and put in the "jumper" wire and everything has been good since. The car had the recall repair done in 2014, and they placed a jumper wire outside the fuse box and it still failed. That's why I decided to open the fuse box to place the jumper wire inside. Hope this helps.....good luck and let me know when you have the problem repaired.
From the succes of someone on this thread, I ordered one on Ebay, which turned out to be a GM dealer in New Mexico, on Sunday and I just got it today. This is such a 1st world problem, but for some reason it has really been annoying me. Hopefully when I install it later it will do the trick.
