You'd probably have better luck in the forced induction section.
People who need a serious tire are people who make serious power. I've been trying to get that answer myself. I would imagine 3-5k is probably the norm and matches up with what a few people have told me who currently have them.
I had NT05R on my Terminator cobra (blown and sprayed 570rwhp). I got about 10k miles out of the rears. I went down the 1/8 a dozen times or so, spinning through the traps. I don't remember the size but it was on a 10" rim, so definitely not the 345s. On the vette I just put a set of Kumho Ecsta XS 345s and look forward to seeing how much mileage I get out of those, including track days. Incidentally, I bought a set of Nitto NT05s (not R), which will sit in the garage until the Kumhos go away.
I have 345 Khumo XS on my car right now...LOVE them. Definitely the stickiest street tire available. They'll hold my 625rwhp wot in 2nd gear. They're an amazing tire.
I'm definitely surprised you got 10k out of an R compound tire though. That's a lot.

Didn't mean to threadjack but that is VERY encouraging. I appreciate the input on the Kumhos.
As to the 10k miles of the NT05r's...I drove them til they were bald and just kept going. I bet I put 3k miles in the unsafe territory. They spun every time I touched the skinny pedal on the right and I never once hooked at the track, btw. I don't blame the tire, though. I blame my suspension setup. I sold the car before I ever got around to setting it up to hook well.
By the way, the NT05r is a drag radial. I would confidently buy it if you go to the strip. If you go to the road course, the NT05 is the better choice. Although, if you want a Kumho XS... call Luke Pavlick at Tire Rack and he can get them to you. They are discontinued in the 345s but he has 4 at his fingertips. (You can't buy them online, you gotta go to him. By the way, you can get them on ebay but it's safer to trust Luke.)
I got mine on ebay for 600 bucks....what does he charge? I've been planning on getting a second set to keep just because I like them so much and want a set ready now that they're discontinued.

The two Kumhos I got from ebay for 600 were out of round and that's why I went to Tire Rack for the fix. They're $378/ea from Luke at Tire Rack. Incidentally, the ebayer has gone up to $750/pair. So, I'd go with Luke. FWIW, the ebayer tried to make it right and offered me a viable solution to the out of round tires, but I still would've had to eat shipping costs. So, I ate the shipping costs and used Luke. I hate eating money but all is well. I look forward to seeing what the Kumhos do at Memphis International Raceway and Road Atlanta this summer!
Is Khumo replacing this tire with something comparable or are we just SOL if we decide we want a Khumo over the Nitto?? Don't these vendors realize the market for good Corvette size rear tires?? LOL
Damn Rescue,
I love your AVATAR... I keep trying to see if I can enlarge the photo for detail..... If that is your girl I would definitely say you are over chicked!!!
