I have a 2010 Grand Sport and in need of a new battery . I was wondering what is the best one for this car ? An interstate, red top , yellow top , etc . ? Thanks
I just installed an AutoZone 90-DRG Duralast Gold battery in my Z06. $113 and it has a 3 year free replacement and an 8 year prorated warranty. Plus AutoZone is one of the largest parts stores around so finding a AutoZone store, if you do need a warranty replacement battery is easier then a lot of brands of batteries.
Your car might take the 85 series battery since you don't have the dry sump engine, which is $99. You lucky dog, saving $14 dollars. The 85 Gold still has the same 3 year free/8 year prorated warranty.
what ever battery you buy get a battery tender to go along with it........
Thanks but I have one . A few weeks ago I left cove lights on and it went dead . I had it jumped no problem since then . I went to the dealer for service it was there 2 days and they said it was dead and don't know why . I am just going to replace the battery don't want any more aggravation . Isn't the LS 3 dry sump engine ?

If you are still within the 3 years 36k warranty a GM dealer should replace it free under warranty.
I have had a good number of vettes and have always had the best luck with the Delco Professional's and they have a 6 year warranty which is the longest warranty available now from what I have seen.
As mentioned, if your car is within the first 3yrs/36K mi, then the dealer will replace it. While Interstates are very good bateries, none of the others suck, and are very good too. Advance Auto Gold's are good as well, and can usually save 20% when ordering online.
Sears Platnium .. One of the most expensive but I use this in my classic cars which sit quite a bit and they really hold up. If I am not mistaken the free replacement period is 5 years. As noted, check with the dealer first to see if you can get a free replacement ....
You have a $50-$120k car I assume you can afford a $180 battery.

Most replacement batteries are manufacture by just three different companies: Exide, Johnson Controls, and East Penn.
Sears car batteries are manufactured by Johnson Controls.
They also make car batteries for Toyota (True Start), Mazda, Mitsubishi, Honda and Acura dealers, Costco (Kirkland signature), AutoZone (Duralast), Advance auto parts (Autocraft), and Les Schwab. They used to make the Wal-Mart Everstart batteries, but now those are made by Exide.

When it went dead at the dealer I was under 36K. I am going to call them but they will probably gie me a hard time . Now I am over that but bought the best extended warranty but they probably won't cover it right ? My Dad always swore by interstate batteries .

If you want to check if and what Sears has to fit your car just go to the Sears website and in the automotive area they have a system where you enter your car info and they show which batteries they sell that will fit your vehicle.

Only GS LS3 with the dry sump engine is a coupe with the manual transmission. You have the wet sump engine and it requires a 85 series battery.

What has "what one can afford" have to do with making a smart purchase? I have AutoZone batteries in each of my four cars. That's a completely restored 56 and 63,000 mile original 64 coupe, a Z06 and a supercharged Mercedes. Wanta bet I have more then $50-$120,000 tied up in those four cars, and that I can afford more then $99 for a battery.
Isn't Sear's Platinum battery warranty 4 year free replacement(one year longer then the AutoZone) and a 100 month prorated(4 months longer then the AutoZone)? How does Sear's price compare with AutoZone's $99 for their 85-DLG. From Sear's website, it appears to be $220. Thats over double the cost to gain one year free replacement and 4 months prorated. Not too smart a buy, in my opinion. If my AutoZone dies in 6 years it, will cost me ~$75 to replace(75% X $99) vs the Sear's ~$158 to replace(72% X $220).
I replaced the 5 year old Delco in my convert just because I figured it was about time with a Delco Professional with a 6 year warranty and it ran me about $85 from my Chevy dealer parts department.
