It was a year to the date from when I picked up the Vette from MacMulkin so it was time. 79%il life remaing on the DIC with 2400 miles. I brought the car to my local garage where i've been trading for 25 years. They have a drive on lift so there was no rocker panel worries.
i supplied the mobil One & filter ( no oil wars please) and was charged $15.00 for the labor. No fuss no worries no dealer horror stories.

I always take my cars to be serviced at the dealership where I purchase it while the car is under warranty. If ever any problems no finger pointing no warranty problems. No fuss no worries and no he said she said horror stories. Do you really think your local shop has smarter people or a master tech is changing your oil? They are charging you $15, and they think you are so cheap you are not letting them make any money on the oil/filter. Did they over torque the oil plug? If it leaks and the engine blows up Chevy is going to say sorry not our fault. Your local shop is going to claim they did nothing wrong. Not worth saving a couple of bucks to me. Just something for others to consider.

Good price but I still prefer to do it myself. It takes 20 minuets or less and I know it's done right.

While I kind of agree I also think you are fooling yourself if you think your dealer will just "roll over" for you if there is an issue caused by them. Do a search - PLENTY of examples of unhappy owners after dealer induced issues and lack of dealer demonstrated responsibility for those issues. Obviously some are better than others. They are always your friend until you want something back from them - then you find your true friends. On this one I have to go with the "if you want it done right do it yourself".

Well I considered taking it to the chevy dealer and when I went there the service manger tried to convice me that my GS Vert had a dry sump and that he did not need jacking pucks to lift a corvette.. Needless to say they were clueless and their lack of basic Corvette knowledge turned me off..
I didn't take to my local guy to save money I took it to have it done right.... Over the last 25 years I've given them plenty of business with my DD and my wifes car so its not like I'm some guy trying to do something on the cheap. They don't carry Mobil One so they have no problem with me suppling my own oil for the Vette. Also I watched the whole process from start to finish and it was done just the way I would have done it.
Just a question for you, when was the last time a dealer tech used a torque wrench to tighten a drain plug.... The answer is never. Please get real with your comparison!!! Lastly they don't use a "master Tech to change oil", just some young wannabe that sometimes ****s up your corvette.
I change my own oil, but if your going to have someone else do it ... This way seems to be the best option as discribed by the OP.
Double
I do like the idea of taking it to a place like this so the car is level when the oil is draining out versus having it on ramps or jack stands up front.

Paranoid Pitbull....if everyone thought like you, there would be no aftermarket shops in business, then the dealership would have carte blanche to charge you anything they wanted. I prefer to do it myself, but own 5 of my own auto repair shops, and luckily most don't think like you do. Also believing that the minimum wage lube techs at a dealership will do the best service on your car is delusional at best. Just my honest opinion.
Let me put it in very simple terms. If I had a set of Roller Skates and my selling dealer had the only skate key in town (old farts know what skate keys are) I would throw my Roller Skates in the ocean!!!

I agree as I have never heard of a GM dealer screwing up a simple oil change.
