I've got a chip on the left fender of my Z... Bodyshop says that they may be able to airbrush area and blend but it may be too big to airbrush requiring them to blend the fender and clear the entire panel, then they would roll the edges to paint. Finally, they would rub the edges when unmasked. They would not have to remove the fender but would remove the left headlight assembly.
For those who know about this stuff - does this make sense? What's he saying? The chip is about 2 inches behind the left headlight and is slightly smaller than a dime - on top of the fender.
Thanks in advance for your input.

A good painter can blend the spot then clear the complete panel you will never know it was there but the whole panel will need to be cleared that's the trick.
I would A. remove fender B. feather edge the chip with 320 sand paper, then knock all the shine off of the whole fender with 800 grit. C. spray the color while trying not to spray to the furthest edges. D. Clear coat the entire fender. E. Wet sand and buff F. install fender. G. Drink some bud light while smoking a cigar.
