Default Outdoor storage?

My wife and I will be moving soon to the Bonita Springs, FL area. While our house is under construction we'll be staying at a hotel with of course no garage parking. I've considered getting an outdoor storage cover to protect my baby but based on a lot of reviews and opinions, they seem more trouble than they are worth.

Since I wash my car religiously and use a great sealant in Rejex, I'm thinking about leaving it uncovered. It will be outside for close to 4 months and will certainly see its share of morning dew, rain and sun but I'm hoping that the Rejex will protect it really well. My main concern is water spots.

Let me know your thoughts/opinions. Also considered renting a storage unit but the convenience factor is not there based on locations/proximity to the hotel.

Thanks
Michael

find a secured storage unit...I use one 6 months of the year..about $150 a month but prices vary...I Googled this bonita springs storage units and found several

this place is first month free http://www.bonitabeachstorage.com/st...web_coupon.htm

we are coming up to storm season...you really want it parked inside...6 months of storage is less than 1 insurance claim

The first Summer I had my Vette I had it in the driveway 24/7. I used a good quality outdoor cover and it really was not a hassle and I felt worth it. I also by the way use Rejex, but still feel a good cover is worth the small dollars and the little time it takes to cover and uncover the car.
I used a California duster prior to putting the cover on each day if I drove the car.

At the very least put something inside the windshield to protect the dash from the sun.

Do you plan to drive the car much or will it just sit there? If its going to sit I would see if perhaps a member in your area would allow you to store it at their place. If I lived close by you would be more than welcome. But you would have to either park next to my Vette or my dads Vette. lol

Thanks for the info...actually have Dave at my house tinting the two cars I needed done. He just finished the Vette...did a pretty good job...a little bit of seperation around the dots on the rear window but we'll get a better idea of how it looks in a week or so when it has time to dry.

I have posted in the SE section to see if anyone had a spot available...nothing yet. I'll be staying just off Alico road and than living off Bonita Beach Road when the house is finished.

I travel quite a bit, so the car will be driven on and off again every 10 days or so...no driving while I'm gone for around 10 days but than driven most every day while I'm home for 2-8 days (unless its raining).

Will certainly have a shade in the windshield to protect the dash and the windows are tinted as well.

For the last 3 winters, we've stayed two months at the Beach & Tennis Club where Bonita Springs Rd curves north into Hickory. The car is completely uncovered during that time, just across the street from the beach.

One time I parked in the wrong place and it got sprinkled with that awful water they use on lawns, it dried before I saw the car next day and looked like someone had vomited all over the paint. I washed it immediately but it took lots of extra work to remove the remainder of the stains.

Aside from that, the car seems to be doing fine.

But how will you deal with the local drivers? I don't know about Zephyrhills, but in Bonita Springs:
75% of the drivers are heavily sedated, the remaining 25% flunked out of Anger management class.

Yeah, I'll have to just rent a place...I won't get to drive it as much but I'll have peace of mind...and it's only for 4 months, so not bad.

How long did you take to start the squeege process after the tint was applied...Dave said you should wait about a week?

I was going to suggest window tint, but looks like you already jumped on it. With the tint and a windshield shade, should help the interior a lot. Try getting the shade to cover the RR mirror's knuckle mechinism, as doesn't much like direct sunlight. Maybe consider joining NCRS for $35 bucks. Mostly guys restoring old Vette's, but have chapters all over the country. May end up stored in a dusty repair facility, so you'll be wanting at least some sort of light cover. Light cotton/poly type's probably best here, as can just pop it in the the washing machine.

I waited a couple days...depends on how much it sits out in the sun. He just re-did my 2 side windows on my Z as I wanted them darker and I let the car sit out 2 days and it was amazing how much the tint lay down...you are gonna have to judge for yourself but I would give it at least 3 days.

You will probably be able to squeegee moisture for a few weeks...I spayed the tint with some water to make the squeegee slide easier...you just have to stay with it and even after you are done it will continue to cure for awhile...

when he came to redo my 99 windows the tint had been on there since Nov 98...steaming was the only way to remove it from the dot matrix

Perfect...I have them outside in the sun now...and will do the same the next few days...than I'll try the squeege for what's left. There are a bit of bubbles/marks but I'm sure the sun will get those out. I'll keep you posted.
