Hi all, now before you open fire at me just know the reason i posted this was because I'm a member on this forum and usually get the best feed back here, and two cuz i figure theres a lot of you with matte black cars being corvettes.
*Im trading the Z06 in for a GTR i know its the worst offense and I'm sorry to you all for the betrayal
However i found one for a great price and the only worry i have is it is *PAINTED* matte black. Im planning on using the car as a DD. how is the upkeep on matteblack paint. will i be okay, or are there any major reasons i would want to steer away? Like i know when BMW offered there M3 in matte black they had a paint contract but i don't remember why it was.
My C6 was standard gloss Black and the C4 gets washed far more often than the gloss Black C6 ever did(and the C6 got washed a couple of times a week), but then I can't stand for it to not look clean.
Good news is, that if they have used a good quality top coat and it was laid down by someone who knows what they are doing it will be very durable and washing frequently is not a problem. I would imagine that someone who bought a GTR would have only had it done by an experienced pro.
Well you won't hear a bad thing out of me regarding the gtr. Your trading a great car (the z) for a better one. I know a lot of people on this forum will go off on you soon but the truth is the gtr is one of the greatest cars on the road. I love everything about it and I'm sure you will as well. You might just miss the rawness of the z06 which will quickly be forgotten when driving a perfect car like the gtr. It just does it ALL with ease and perfection. Good luck with your new ride!!!

I have a matte black Harley and they have a special spray for it, as you don't want to use anything with any kind of silicone or wax, polish etc on the paint as it will get a sheen.
I just use it like a detail spray. Haven't had any problems keeping it nice. Although it doesn't have the amount of body a car does.

Apologies to O.P. I had no intention of hijacking your thread, but these issues will familiar to you if you get the matte black GTR and I haven't posted here in C6 Gen for a long time.

Sorry but no. I have an emotional attachment to her. My son and I rebuilt the motor together and he stripped what was left of the crappy GM paint and did the bodywork to repair damage that she had when I bought her.
Speedraider-
That's okay, it is after all an '89. I knew when I went with the matte/gloss black combo there would be some who wouldn't see it how I do. You are entitled to your opinion.
Overall the majority of people seem to like it. I actually get stopped on the street and am asked about the flames/pinstriping, what kind of paint it is and who shot it.
