Default Windshield cost for 2012 GS

I had a truck throw a rock on the interstate today and cracked my windshield. I am fully insured and have a 500 dollar deductible for glass. any idea of what the actual cost is? or advice of where to have the service completed . I live in Annapolis MD.

Isn't Criswell, the CF dealer, in MD?

They should know exactly what to do.

Gaithersburg MD. Is that far from you?

Wow. I'm missing something also. I replaced my windshield on my 2010 HUD GS for about $350.00. Don't do it at a dealership; get these mobile guys to come to your house to do it. And why do you carry so high a deductible on comprehesive? $100 ded is only about $5 more per year.

No Walmart. Just called around, and install took 45 minutes. Glass looks good to me, even with factory tint strip along top. Just missing the Toyota logo in the corner, BIg F'K deal.

IMOP paying $2,000 for a windshield is just not good common sense.

The dealership must have a lot of funny walking people leaving from some serious screwing.

Do your homework, or pay the big bucks for being lazy.

Just had Safe-Lite Auto Glass put one in my 2011 GS with HUD, the windshield was 931.00. They also installed 1 in my 08 that I had. The Glass looks just as good and the same as OEM. In fact Safe-Lite is who AAA recommends.

Thanks much for responding. USAA also recommended using Safe-lite and we should have an appointment soon to fix the windshield. I also have a call in to my electronics installer since I had a 9500CI Passport radar detector installed and a couple of the components are attached to the widshield. Nothing is easy. I hope the Safe- lite guy can do the entire job to include placement of the radar sensors.

Hopefully you only do this once and get it done right the first time. Safe lite is good and I have used them but even the tech that did mine said they are only as good as the tech. If a guy said he never did a corvette before, I would send him packing. NowI would find a shop that only does glass, check them out, references and all. Ask them to get a gm windshield. Even if money is no object I think the private glass shop will do a better job. Just seems to me everything at a dealer is marked up several times and then the work gets knocked out. Good Luck

Remember to leave the tape around the windshield on for 48 hours and always have the window cracked open doing this curing time. This will prevent pressure building up in the car and popping out the window, causing possible water leaks. Number one cause of leaks other than improper sealant coverage.
