Buying Help
I have a 2011 Genesis Coupe 2.0T 24500 with Nav
car is worth $20000 on a clean trade in. I mean the car is is excellent shape...
I am looking for at least $19000 but the dealer is only giving $17500.
The corvette I am looking at is a 2008 JSB base coupe with 70000 miles and dealer is asking $29600 plus $17500 for my trade.. Warranty would be additional on top of that. Plus TTL...
Opinions on what I should do? Do you guys think it is worth it?
Thanks a lot!
CF dealers have had new 2011 1LT coupes advertised for $40K; don't know how many '11s remain at this point...
and a similar '12 could be around $44K ? (just for comparison)

Are you saying its 29,600 - 17,500 = 12,100 out of your pocket?
Or are you actually saying you would give up your car and still owe 29,600? (which would definitely involve crack smoking)
Why not sell your Hyundai yourself for 20k pocket 5k and now you have bargaining power .
Then you can buy a car from private party or dealer and your in control!!

But with HUD, it probably has the 3LT option group -- the previous owner could've installed HUD in a 1LT.
If it's got a telescoping steering wheel, it's definitely a 3LT ($4500 option). Also includes heated seats, 6-cd changer, etc.
There is a decal in the glovebox that lists the features/options codes.
Anyway, $30k is in the ballpark for a 2008 C6. Less $$$, for 70k miles. More $$$, depending on options, condition, carfax, location, history, maintenance, etc etc.
Bottom Line: If this is your only vehicle/daily driver, I don't think it's practical to trade your late-model Hyundai for anything that's almost 5-years old with 70k miles.
BTW, if you don't mind waiting & saving for 8-10 months, the new C7 intro will be imminent... I bet you'll see some great deals on new/leftover C6's, like this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-d...chevrolet.html
If you want to know what your car is really worth as a trade, go to CarMax and see what they'll give you. I've found that they are fair. On trades. Not on the crap that they sell - that's another story entirely.

Are you a young guy? If so, it's also possible that the salesman is not taking you seriously and/or thinks that they can take advantage of your youth and inexperience.
