Default Why can't I drive in the rain?

Ok; so I never quite understood why I shouldn't be driving my new c6 in the rain. I never rains here, so it typically never comes up but it rained today and I wanted to drive my car anyway.

So I did.

Will it eventually hurt my paint or something? It is my toy car, not a DD.

For many it's the only car they have so they drive it every day. Others do and others don't! I don't care one way or the other.

Have at it!

The car sits out in the elements after production until it's purchased in may cases. The factory does thorough water testing to make sure it's tight to boot.

I actually drove my 2007 C6 through a pretty decent snow storm in Santa Fe NM when I had it.

We need 4 pictures of your car to intelligently answer your question. Front, rear and both sides.

I drove mine home from the dealer in a torrential downpour. My vette is my car, I drive it rain or shine.

THAT is one great looking Vette and, yep, you are cleared to drive in the rain!!! Take your time and drive her easy at first. The wider the tire the higher the propensity to slide around on wet pavement. Light showers are worse than heavy rain because the little bit of water just mixes with the dirt or other substances on the surface to creat a slick situation. Heavy rain washes that stuff off the roadway. Enjoy that beautiful Corvette!

I cant do it no matter how much I want to just say F it. I guess if it was my only car I would have no choice and I would drive it. But it's not so she stays nice and clean and cozy while the DD does the dirty work.

You do understand that the dirtier you get it (within reason), the cleaner they are after a wash and thorough detail don't you?

Yup; I bought toupstrio's vette & loving it! You are apparently a ninja forum searcher. Not a thing wrong with the car that I can see. The M2W turns a lot of heads.

The only reason I ask is while I was searching for my new vette, I saw several which said "Has never seen rain". I also know my CFO will not drive his in the rain under any circumstance.

Never quite made any sense to me, as I do apply water when washing the car... so what's the difference?

I think it could be argued that most Corvettes are not the safest option for a rainy day, especially heavy rain, and are not usually as much fun on a rainy day. For getting from point A to point B on a rainy day, if there is the option to drive something better suited to rain, I would take it. I have plenty of fun in the vette on the nice days!
