Never had any fob issues with my 07 coupe until recently. Sometimes when I try to open the door it won't respond, even if I'm holding the fob in my hand. After several attempts it finally opens, and then on subsequent attempts it opens every time. Once I'm in the car it starts every time with no fob alert message on the DIC. Seems to happen after the car has been sitting for a while (like overnight). My first guess would be that the fob battery is getting weak, but if that's the case I would think it would be a problem more often. I've never carried the key with me since the fob has always been reliable. Now I'm carrying it just in case the fob quits completely.
There is probably something in the archives on this, but the web site search function is not working right now.
also verify no interence with other pocket devices.
then if fob battery replacement doesnt help, next would be your car battery, tested to so if weak, as strange things happen when they do.

Misc info.. fob battery, interference (cell or charger) , dirty handle (as above stated) , bad RFID , lots of ideas on a very common but irritating occurance. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...y-problem.html
I'm goin Door handle contact pad is full of sand/dirt Car starts OK, so I'm not suspect of the battery in the FOB but if it's got original batteries, an 07 and this is 12, the FOB could use a change no matter what is wrong.

Keep in mind that a dead car battery or many other issues can require using the key to get into your car.
"Don't leave home without it!"
As for the current problem, do you have another fob you can use for a while, to see if it has problems also? Fob batteries are so cheap that replacing them is usually the first step in a case like yours.
We put 15k-20k miles per year on our car, and i can't get two years out of a fob battery. So I replace them every year.
It sure sounds like the fob battery...easy and cheap to try. To test the battery, see how far away you can get and still lock and unlock the car. With a good fob battery, it should be 100 feet or more. When the fob battery gets low, that distance will shorten dramatically.
I have read the posts about replacing FOB batteries and the manual.
The fob does not want to open and there is no slot that I can see to use to open it.
It seems the case will crack if I apply enough pressure to open it.
Looking for suggestions/reassurance. That FOB has to be expensive!

Which fob do you have, the 2005 through 2007 fob with separate fob and key, or the 2008-2012 fob where the key stays inside the fob?
I don't know which fob you have, but with either one it is best to warm the fob up before prying it open as this lessens the chance of cracking the plastic. Put it out in direct sun for 15 minutes before opening, then do the same with the pieces before snapping it back together. A nickel is the best pry tool for the early fob.
I have a 2008 ZO6
Thanks for the responses - I summoned the courage to attack the fob and got both open and new batteries installed.
It certainly is not easy and next timme i will heat it before the attempt.
In about 3 years! lol
