2008 Black Z06 3LZ
I am trying to make a fair offer on a 2008 Z06 3LZ with 5k miles that I looked at the other day. What do you think the car is worth? Its a one owner pretty much perfect car.

Low mileage 2008 & 2009 Z06's (i.e. those with < 10k miles) are being sold by dealers in the low to mid fifties ($53k-$57k). And that is for a one owner, clean carfax / title, no mods, virtually flawless exterior. I purchased two in the last 8 months and have kept a close eye on the market.

I *might* agree it's a couple thousand high for a private sale. It's been my experience that dealers try to adhere to the market and make profit by "low balling" the person trading in the vehicle. Obviously if a GM dealer is able to offer a certified used vehicle it's going to command a few more dollars than a private sale. However, I still maintain that somewhere in the low to mid fifties is reasonable. I wouldn't consider paying a grand or two above market for a quality Z getting screwed.
Again, I'd like to reiterate that low to mid fifties seems fair (to me) for a Z06 under 10,000 miles, 1 owner, clean carfax / title, near flawless exterior... IMHO.
Good luck.

I agree. Every dealer has something to back up the car to one extent or another even if it isn't a CPO. No private party has that same potential liability. Therefore, the price from a dealer should be higher. If the OP is making a priv. party sale, the price would be imo to the lower end of what might be seen/sold by a dealer.

I negotiated the deal / bought my dad an 09 Z with 8500 miles in Dec. 2011, Atomic Orange. Flawless exterior. 100% flawless. I believe I paid 53,500 from a porsche/jag/audi dealer around Dayton, Ohio. Therefore it was not CPO... it was my mom's x-mas gift to him so she paid me back lol.
A couple months later in Feb. I purchased my 2008 AOM Z06 with 5800 miles for 53,700 from a Cadillac dealer near Baltimore, MD. Again, flawless. Mine was CPO. Both were 1 owner, clean car fax, no mods (although I later got in contact with my previous owner and found out that mine had a tune - dealer didn't know this and still gave me CPO lol).
It's about 7 months later and on the last year of the C6, so maybe the market has shifted down a couple thousand? Maybe? Maybe I paid a bit of a premium for the AOM???
The OP didn't state the price at which the vehicle was listed, if it was a dealer / CPO, or private party. If it is private party I think $50k would be realistic (that's a bit more than a dealer would give for a trade in). Keep in mind that $1k is less than 2% of a $55k car. So an extra thousand here or there shouldn't be thought of like an extra $1k on a Kia Rio.
EDIT: So, if you're purchasing the car from a dealer in Beverly Hills, then you might be subject to an additional couple thousand. But if you purchase from a private party in Dayton, Ohio, then you might be paying a couple thousand less. So +/- $2,500 at a price of $52,500 is essentially +/- 4.76% which is less than a ten percent total swing. At this point you're splitting hairs.
EDIT #2: Both our Z's were 2LZ trim with the Nav.
Please let us know how this turns out. Hope you get the car!

good info, Eric. and both from dealers.
note: all may want to note, too, that cars cost differently from region to region, sometimes even state to state. and certainly at different times of the year. esp. used cars.

I purchased my 09 Black 3LZ, one owner, flawless, no work done to it with 4k miles on it for 54k. Comparable 09 3LZ's with more mileage were going for high 50's, but that was from a dealership. I felt 54k was a fair price seeing that I had the chance to bombard the guy with questions to ensure it was the quality I was looking for............and it was.

But, 99% of the cars that have had "rain" on them look no different than the ones that had "no rain"..
Plus, making that statement for a potential buyer is not a proveable thing...anyone can say that...
I don't like to have it out in the rain, or get it dirty, but it's my DD, so when it rains, I drink Dos Equis....

Acid rain area...I can understand more, if you left it out in the rain enough to matter....if you wipe it down, no problem...

EDIT: Maligator seems to be pretty much spot on with my estimate of price.

I would agree that it's not typically proveable, but the story of how the dealer received the car was just way too weird to have been made up. (Deal on a CTS-V wagon trade almost fell through b/c owner refused to bring the car to dealership due a chance of rain on two different occasions / sunny days). Plus I spoke to the previous owner later who confirmed that the dealer was not lieing. Hard to believe there was a dealer not lieing
