On a C6 coupe or convertible there is an orange LED shining down from the passenger side sunvisor.
On the right side is the round metal mounting flange, however on the left side is an inch and a half square plastic
bracket that holds the sunvisor UP in place. The bottom of that bracket contains a screw for mounting same
and an orange Led THAT ONLY LIGHTS AT NIGHT OR IN some dark garages. WHAT IS IT? What is it called ?
I've driven this car for 5 years and just saw it last night for the first time. A senior moment, I guess.

It's called a wash light. It is intended to give a bit of ambient lighting over the center console and prevent the interior from being in full darkness. It is activated with the instrument panel lighting and will only come on at night. There is a reference to it in the owners manual.
"An ambient light is located in the passenger sun visor
clip. This light stays on while driving to keep the
cabin from being too dark."
Worth noting also that cars built after February of 2008 will not have the light any longer. It was dropped.

It,s the mood light. Creates a glow the softens the dark interior. It was eliminated with the 2008 models along with some other goodies.

I wish there was someway that that light could also be used as a dome light or a light that can be used to light up the whole interior when needed.

asking for a lot from that tiny teenie LED bulb... I actually loved that light, had it on my 2008, my 2010 doesn't have it and as silly as it sounds I was actually teenie bit sad when I realized it was missing Originally Posted by LS WON

replaced mine with a high output Red LED and adjusted the inline resistor for proper voltage drop.. It's screamin bright like a spot light on the shifter/cup holder area of the center console. I like it!!

Did they replace it with a different light or a different kind of light or is it just gone completely after the Feb 2008 models? Thats a nice feature. I have it in my Murano and it gives a good ambiant light when driving at night.
