Remote start

Safety Car
I don't have first-hand experience with this product. But I see too many red flags in the ad.
-- works on manual & automatic
-- works for both diesel and gasoline engines (in a C6 )
-- activated by OEM harware
-- the unit informs you when it has been installed incorrectly or something is wrong
And if you search their other items for sale, you'll see they advertise the exact same REMOTE START that's somehow magically specific for Nissans, Jeeps, Dodges, etc etc.
I'm guessing it'll cost a small fortune to successfully install it in a C6.
I'd skip it.

Instead, for $139 get a Window Valet: http://www.southerncarparts.com/corv...alet-p-69.html
Lets you remotely control the windows... up, down, or slightly open. Nice on a hot day.
Also records the last highest speed & tach readings -- handy if other folks drive your car. (Why did the dealer go 120 mph & 6000 rpm after an oil change? )
Really like mine.
And VERY easy to install:

Too good to be true.
Any suggestions on remote starts would be greatly appreciated.

There was an in-depth thread a while back on the remote-start, and everyone then said it could not be done. Hard to believe though ...

I did a search and read all of the old replies. I just thought there would be something new by now. The only thing I could find on the net was

Not sure why previous threads said it couldn't be done. There are definitely ways to do this, but it sounds like it's fairly complicated. A spare fob has to be placed in the car, connected to an actuator (Directed Electronics' 1101T module). When you signal the remote start, it starts e ignition and powers up the fob that's located in the car. There's at least one member who's done it before - I'll try to find that post.
Found it - SPDMN75 has installed remote start in his Vette.
One note - most instals are done using Directed Electronics systems (Viper, Clifford, etc), but they don't recommend their systems for use on the C6.
