Road Trip 2012
The weather was fantastic all week, but especially on tournament days Thurs-Sun. This golf course is almost as pristine as Augusta National, but as far as I know, no course can ever be as great as Augusta.
We are relaxing after the week of a lot of walking watching golf. We leave for Florida City on Monday, for a sleep over before heading for Key West.
Hoping for more pics soon to be added to the folder.
Happy Mother's Day

Arrived in Key West at approx 6 pm. Booked into the hotel and visited a few of the popular bars that evening. The original Margaritaville was our first stop for a margarita, and a dinner. Both were tasty

It was a long day on the road, so we turned in fairly early. (501 miles) 9 hrs on this leg.
BTW- When driving from Florida City to Key West, there are police cruisers and ghost cars about every 10 miles. I had to shut off my radar detector, because it was constantly going off. You really have to follow the speed limit, as the traffic is pretty busy. Only saw 3 cars pulled over, one of those cars was pulled over on the long causeway.
Tuesday May 15 - Leg 6 - Spent the morning and early afternoon walking about, stopping at most of the shops on Duval Street. 2 Cruise ships are in port, and lot's of people walking about. Key West is a unique city, with all it's old world charm. Once we had lunch, we called it a day and decided to head back to the mainland.
Travelled from Key West FL to Stuart FL. (265 miles) Ran into and followed Thunder showers and lighting from Ft. Lauderdale to Palm Beach. Slow going in some areas due to rain accumulation on the road. At least my Vararam didn't suck in enough water to cause any issues.
Added a few more pics to the folder.
Arrived at the hotel in Stuart at 7:30 PM. Time for a shower and relax.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
We stopped at St. Augustine to try to find a newborn sun hat. My wife is already wanting to buy everything for our first grandchild (boy) to be born at the end of July. I've spent more time in every kind of baby wear store so my wife can find a sun hat. So far, no luck in finding a navy blue 0-3 month hat. (They may not make one)
They do make all kind of outfits though. Our car is full of baby clothes
Arrived in Sea Island Island, Georgia at 2PM, and checked into the hotel.
Ran into rain just outside St Augustine but it stopped just outside Jacksonville. Car needs yet another washing

(330 miles)
Took advantage of the early arrival in Sea Island and walked around some of the sites of the area. I find the island such a quaint area, with trees overhanging the roads, slower pace of the residents, and narrow roadways. It reminds me a bit of Martha's Vineyard, or closer to home, St. Andrews By The Sea in New Brunswick Canada.
More pics added to folder.

Once the shopping was finished, we left Sea Island GA and travelled to
"sunny" Hilton Head Island SC. Once we unloaded the suitcases from the car at the hotel, it was time to go topless and look around the island at the sights and sounds. It is very beautiful on this island, with trees hanging above the narrow lanes. We found the Harbour Town lighthouse, and walked around that area. The Harbour Town golf links is there as well.
Now that is a beautiful layout. Had to buy some souvenirs from the pro shop. As we were about to head back to the car, the Lighting horn sounded from the golf course, and shortly afterwards the rain started.
I'm beginning to think I'm carrying the rain with me

(115 miles)
Going to a comedy club tonight for a good laugh

Added more photos in folder.
