Leaving Maryland for Sanibel Island in Florida in a few weeks for Vaction in the New Corvette about a 1030 miles trip. I have 1900 miles on the Corvette now with 80% Oil life left. probably will have at least 60% Oil life left when I leave. My Question: Should I change the Oil before I leave on this long trip and get all the break in metals out of the Oil and but clean Oil in ?

Yup. Why screw with it. Go with fresh oil and peace of mind.

I think I changed my first oil around 1000 miles. Maybe less. Why don't you change the oil for peace of mind?
Make sure you know proper way of jacking up the Corvette.

Change oil and carry a can of PAM to spray on the front bumper.

Two suggestions:

Tell your dealer the car "handles funny", or something like that, and get them to check the alignment. Many Corvettes are incorrect when nearly new, and you can use up your tires in a hurry. A nice set of alignment specs that are also within the very broad GM specs, and should be acceptable to a dealer, are the Pfadt street alignment numbers.
Of course, maybe you want to burn up those Goodyears so you can install Michelins, but that's another story...

In Punta Gorda, there is a museum called "Muscle car City", lots of Corvettes especially 1963-67 and other interesting stuff. Worth a side trip.
Also, Parrot Key Restaurant in Ft Myers (just over the bridge from Ft Myers Beach) usually has a car show on the first Monday of each month, sometimes every Monday. Their website should have details. We only get down there during winter, and the restaurant is a bit crowded and noisy, but the variety of cars at that time is outstanding.

Have a great trip!

I also need help, folks.
I have a C6 Coupe 2007 that I had installed Z06 rear quarter panels. However I am not satisfied with the look because the fenders make the rear 20 inch tires look like they are a bit far inside; also making the car look like it is "lowered."
I was told to get the 20 inch tires for the Z06 since they are wider than the one recommended for the base coupe. Someone suggested shims to "push" the tires further out.
Any ideas?
Please help as I love my care dearly

No hard feelings but if you start your own thread, IMO you will get plenty of replies, what does this have to do with my changing my Oil or my trip ?

Your asking the question tells me you should spend the $50 or so and
get 'er done .... Ever hear someone say their car "drove better" after
washing it? Mind games are a fact of life ......

I recommend changing the oil and filter now, then follow the percent oil life remaining as displayed on the DIC, not to exceed a one (1) year time interval, all per the owners manual.

By the way, for lunch, check out the Mucky Duck on Captiva Island and be sure to ask for a window seat.

Regards,

GSRANDY

FYI. I bought supplies yesterday to change the oil in my C6. Guess it had been 6 months since the last change, even though I change it at 50%. Anyway, Royal Purple is $9.95 a QUART at PepBoys! Thats up about $3 a qt in 6 months!
