i was thinking of switching in case there's another brand that protects diff better and helps with the whining noise.
what about using 75/140 on stock diff?
I use the factory blend and have no problems. Why change?
Rear-end chatter from the factory has been a HUGE problem...many threads on this board about it. Switching to a performance oil has cured the noises for many board members.

And GM seemed to have finally after 40 years found the solution. The new GM fluid seems to have permanently cured that issue.

I just ordered 3 bottles (GS manual tranny takes more, due to the cooler) of Dexron LS because I read it's 100% synthetic, not a blend. Which one is it? Just curious. Thx.
Four years and 18,600 miles on my 09 Z06 and still have the factory fill in the differential. Absolutely no problems, no chatter, etc so I'm leaving it alone.
Though a little dated now, most of the above options were included in this AMSOIL commissioned study. Many may consider this a biased study, but even if you discount AMSOIL in the study, the results between all the others is educational: AMSOIL Gear Lube “White Paper” (2 MB pdf file)

I finally changed mine at 36,500 miles using the GM fluid. Never any problems or noises...just routine maintenance. My car was built after the debut of the latest fluid.
I can't believe the GM fluid is winning out. That stuff, along with the limited slip additive costs a small fortune. Royal Purple is way cheaper, readily available and already has the additive in it.
