The headliner suction cups work well and have never failed or wilted, even under 100 degree heated hot sun! I think they are very effective at increasing comfort on those hot sunny days!
I used to get the dual top option. But the last few cars I have just gone with the transparent top. I have had the supplemental piece to block the Sun but anymore I dont use them. I like the transparent top as it gives me extra head room. In picking between the transparent top and the painted top, I vote for the transparent top.

I didn't even buy the painted top, and I live in sunny San Diego. I use a windshield sunblocker, and before I get into the car after it's been in the sun all day, I open the hatch, and the hot air escapes. Yes, some of the interior surfaces are still warm, but A/C does the job.
I have both tops and switch them out twice a year when the time changes. Glass top is way too hot in the summer in TX, even with a stick on liner. (I assume that is what you are asking about...)
I also have both and use the transparent top in the Spring and Fall and use the painted top in the Summer. Works out great and the Vette looks like a different car when I change them out.
On another note, the painted top is heavier and better insulated so road noise is reduced vs. the transparent top.
"Targa" top is a correct generic term for any automotive one piece lift off roof panel. The term is used by Ferarri, Porsche, etc.
In your terminology both the solid and transparent tops are "targa" tops... Therefore to be understood use the terms that everyone else is using, transparent and solid, to be clear which you are talking about.
BTW Do Ferrari and Porsche have two kinds of tops for the same car like Corvette does? Maybe they don't have to differentiate?
