Default Navigation System

Just bought a 2012 GS with navigation system. Does e DVD stay in the vehicle after initial download or is it removed. Thanks in advance.

The DVD remains in the unit. It contains all of the point of interest and address detail for the geographic regions.

There is no hard drive on the Corvette navigation radio so it relies on the DVD for data.

It reads the DVD quite frequently when you are moving with the nav displayed so it stays in if you are planning to use the nav.

Talon90 is too modest to mention that he made a very good tutorial for the C6 nav system, available for download on his website. Put it in your laptop, go sit in the car, and kill your battery while playing with the nav system. Well, maybe do it in short sessions so your battery and your brain will both be rested.

Despite all the whiners; it is a very capable system, just not so easy to learn. And like all others, good but not perfect.

GM needs to intsall the hard drive systems in all high end vehicles. Corvette is DVD driven, my 2012 Acadia Denali is DVD driven and my 2012 Sierra Denali HD is hard drive driven....makes no sense!

HDD is a great system - until you try and update - 2-3 hour process! The 2012 update was flawed and could kill your Nav Radio - ask me how I know!

I understand your dilemma but the ability to download all your music cd's, i-pod music and all other advantages is worth the hassle when update time comes. I'll let my dealer handle that for me.

HUD integration is fantastic also. I don't even use B1tching Betty.
