steering clicking

Arroway Chevy in Mt Kisco has corvette specific mechanics. they say that the clicking is "normal clicking noise coming from steering position sensor".
so there you go. if they say it it must be true.
I called GM and the 18 year old that picked up the phone had never driven one he said.

I'm just hearing this today for the first time. At speeds below 25 mph I can shake the wheel and here it as it passes the center position in both directions.
Temp reading was 77 degrees at 5:25 am this morning. It was 96 yesterday and will be close to 100 today. The temps were this hot at some points last summer too with no clicking noise.
It is time for an oil change and I've only taken the car to Suburban Chevrolet in Sandy, Oregon so I will have them take a look at it. They have a specialist for Corvettes there.
The though of having the steering lock up while driving doesn't sound very comforting
