Default Vendor responses

So, a vendor can respond here and the thread then gets locked? The OP gets no opportunity to respond? Perhaps the forum needs to be reminded there would be no vendors and no site without the traffic provided by the members.

The forum has a rules and guidelines section where most of the policies are spelled out pretty good. You can find that here:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/foru...and-rules-109/

Two forum rules you are going to need to become familiar with.

The first is about unresolved disputes:

You can find this one here:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/foru...-disputes.html

Unresolved disputes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Forum allows a factual post on an unresolved dispute with a vendor or another member once all efforts to resolve the issue offline have been exhausted. Then, the post must be factual and cannot be used to bash the vendor or the member. It should be posted in the Transactions Feedback section. Once the post has been made, it cannot be repeated in other sections or on other days.

Moderators will try to leave such threads open until everybody with direct knowledge of the issue being addressed has had a chance to provide their version of the facts. The thread must not become a running debate on the accuracy of the “facts” and may not deteriorate into an exchange of personal attacks. Neither should be used as an opportunity for speculation by those who do not have direct knowledge of the issue.

Once there has been the opportunity for the facts on all sides to be posted, the thread will be locked. It will remain in the database and will be available for review by those who are researching the topic, vendor or member.

The Forum is not in a position to monitor transactions or to determine the “true facts” in most disputes. Upon request, however, the Forum will try to intervene and mediate a settlement suitable to all parties in a dispute. When issues are resolved in the matter, it will be posted to the original dispute thread so it becomes part of the searchable record. We believe that is a more useful record of performance for potential customers than would be an eBay-style rating system.

As has been our past practice, members or vendors who show a pattern of unresolved issues will be removed from Corvetteforum.com.
The second one is about questions on threads and forum policy and moderation:

You can find this one here:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/foru...questions.html

Complaints, Suggestions & Questions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have suggestions for the improvement of the Forum, questions or criticism of the Forum or its moderation, you are welcome to PM or e-mail a moderator. Please do not use an open thread for such messages, however.

That would include, but is not limited to discussions about who has been banned and why.

The work on the Forum's volunteer moderators is difficult enough without having folks calling them out in open threads.

In a case like this one. Both sides had an opportunity to read and respond. The thread is likely off line under review and will be locked and reposted once that is complete.

Bottom line, this is a private forum. They can do what they need to do to keep it neat and orderly. They generally do a very good job of remaining unbiased.

A third forum policy that you may want to familiarize yourself with:

Free Speech/censorship

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

God bless America, where we enjoy constitutionally protected rights. Free speech, although not absolute, is one of those rights.

Being a member at Corvetteforum.com is not, however, a constitutionally protected right. The Forum is a private enterprise and its owner has the right to establish rules of behavior for participants.

Participants who agree to follow Forum rules and then don’t will sometimes find that their inappropriate posts have been deleted. They should not reopen a topic after a moderator has closed a thread on the topic. A pattern of such defiance of the Forum’s rules/guidelines will jeopardize a member’s posting privileges.

There's a relatively new forum called Transactions Feedback. Forum members who have a problem with either a vendor or another forum member involving car or parts transactions should post there. Then the other party is given a chance to respond.

Sometimes forum members post their thread in other parts of the forum. Although that's not the preferred place, it's okay, because eventually it'll probably get moved to the Transaction Feedback forum.

Paul has done a very good job of explaining how to handle these things and what to do for grievances. If you need additional information, PM a moderator or administrator. Also PM one of us if you have a problem with the way something was handled instead of posting about it in open forum.

And, thanks, Paul.
