I have a 2007 C6 corvette and every 1-2 months I have an intermittent problem. I have searched forums and asked many Technicians and nothing seems to help.
My brake lamps illuminate when not depressing the pedal and when I do, they turn off. After driving like this for a little while, my 'Service Active Handling' message comes on.
I stop, and turn off the vehicle. Now the engine starts without pressing the brake pedal numerous times. After about 5 minutes I depress the brake pedal and push the start button and the message reads 'Push brake pedal to start'. After fighting with it for 2 minutes, it finally starts and. Won't go out of park. Then when I get it to go into drive still, my brake lamps are illuminated without pressing the pedal and turn off when pressed.
I have had my brake switch replaced 3 times from GM and it was calibrated every time.
Very annoying problem when I'm out for a sunday night cruise with my fiancee and it gets cut short because my car is acting up.
Please help me figure out the problem.
Wow, i can't help much. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to let all the computers reset? Sure sounds like something is out of sync.
I'm wondering if it's the known issue with corrosion in the harness connector where the rear light harness plugs in behind the fascia. Corrosion there has been known to do strange things with the rear lights...usually only if you live in a high humidity area though...
I have had this happen with another vehicle not the vette and it was a loose ground. So I would say look for a ground and that may be your problem. Mine was so bad that sometimes when I stepped on the brakes the engine would stall. This was also an intermittent problem.
I live in winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I don't drive it in the rain or snow. And the roads here are crap but I try my best to avoid hard roads. Just when I put the gas to the floor it starts.

The OP above sounds like it might be logical. A bad ground can be intermittent. Even if you don't drive in rain.
You would be surprised how many dealers can't or don't know how to trouble shoot a problem.
Another thought along the same line, is your battery ok? New? Have it load tested.
