In the future...One of those cheap carpet cleaners works good.
Or some woolite/water, spray bottle, fine bristle brush and jet vac is the less expensive way and they come out great.

Guilty of it myself. I ended up with a very small hole in the backing that isn't noticeable. Next time I'll just wash them with a carpet cleaner.

I wash them with Dawn and a brush then hose them off and sun dry them on the patio.

I've used the power washer (and spray degreaser if necessary) on stock floor mats in my other cars and it has worked well.

No worries. I do stupid **** all the time. Like waiting too long to replace valve springs (cost of about $900) and having to basically rebuild the motor (cost of about $9,000).
I'd say your mistake is an acceptable one. A momentary lapse of reason as opposed to sheer stupidity.
On a positive note, Windex is a great small spot remover in carpet. Very cheap and everyone usually has a little laying around somewhere.
Enjoy your new mats when you get'em.

I've put matts from all my cars in the washer over the years. The trick is to have the carpeted surface on the inside, rubber facing out. They come out like brand new.
