Default power top #$%@#$

OK...I know your only looking for trouble when you have a power top. But got the car off the lot and didn't want to wait. I'm having the usual love/hate relationship with it...love it when it works...hate it when it don't. It works perfect for about 20 to 25 cycles. But then out of nowhere it will act up for about the next 3 to 5 cycles. The usual problem is that the taneau (sp) cover doesn't close all the way, and then you know it upsets the cycle and the top stops...etc...etc. Then all is well again for about another 20 to 25. Know theres no real simple dignoasis....but maybe someone has had the same issue and gotten lucky with a fix ???

Is the car under warranty? I have a 2007 with a power top and never had a problem (and I use it a lot).

Never have had any problem with my 2007 convert.

Check the pressure relief bolt on the pump to make sure it is tight. It is located under the top compartment lid on the passenger side and if it is even slightly loose it will cause intermittent problems.

The guy in the following link was having intermittent problems and the dealer told him he needed a new pump for a couple of grand. He had similar problems to yours and after he tightened the allen bolt it was fixed. There are pics showing the pump and the bolt to tighten.

Same here, I have a 2008. I have never had a problem with the top mechanism. Could be a problem micro switch as mentioned the bolt needs to be tightened. Good luck

Thanks for the help gents.....will definitely keep them in mind. The car is out of warranty...even if it was still in warranty...you know how that works with any intermittet (sp) problem.. Murhpys law strickly indicates that any intermittet problem will magicly dissapear upon turning into the dealers lot....LOLOL.
