I know I went to the weekly cruise-in last night....lots of older C1's and C2's with terrible paint jobs...swirls, oxidation, spider webbing, etc..
Also most of the newer C6's also had terrible detailing

I just finished a 2 day long porter-cable-pinnacle-mothers-zaino-fest last weekend, so at least my car looked great

Funny how different people see their cars as being "detailed"

He probably knew you were gonna see and he did it for laughs and giggles. You should have gone out with your smallest detail tool (toothbrush or q-tip?) and done something to your Vette at the same time. You know, the ying and the yang of it all!!!

I have been using a soft brush on a handle for years. Had no ill effect on the finish. When I first started using it I felt it might be a better alternative to a mitt, rag or a sponge. Seems that it has.

I will put it in the soap bucket between swipes to the car and plunge it up and down a few times to dislodge any dirt that accumulated. When I am done washing the car I hose the brush off. I have to emphasize the brush has soft bristles.

He probably sees you in your garage shining your 'vette and he is trying to see if you can resist the urge to go clean his truck for him. Don't give in. At the end of the day, it's a truck.

You have taught most of the world about detailing but you forgot about your neighbor.....

Maybe he's protected because he has a coat of Rejex on that baby......

I saw a guy at the car wash one Saturday using the brush on his new black paper tagged Z-06. He had it fully soaped down and was scrubbing it like an old pair of false teeth. When he had pulled into the vacuum area I introduced myself and explained that that was not the correct way to clean the car and gave him the name of a good detailer that could correct all the damage he had just inflicted. He seemed very embarrassed and thanked me for the advise. I have not seen the car since.

What you see there is probably what 99% of the population thinks is OK to do. The majority of car owners have no clue as to how their cars work or what to do with them. They drive around with low tire pressure, black oil, 1 quart low and think it's OK. They wash their cars with brooms.
Pity to say, it's just apathy and lack of interest to learn and do better.

I believe most people just view cars as transportation. They do the necessary maintenance to keep them running but really do not understand those who treat an automobile as a shrine.
Some spend the weekend polishing their car, some of us goto the lake and fish. If it relaxes you, great but I'm not sure one is "better".

I'll bet on some Toyota forum he is talking about HIS nutty neighbor who spends endless hours detailing his 'American sports car".

Now if he was a really good neighbor, he would come over and wash the C6 with the broom. I wonder what would happen to the broom if he did....
