Help w possible purchase -please
1. I wouldn't want to do business with a pushy dealer. The threat to send the car to auction is not realistic. He knows he will get more from a sale to you than he will get at auction.
2. I have seen at least 3 '09 Z's sold on this forum since I joined a few month's ago and all sold for <$50k. I know you expect to pay more from a dealer than a private sale, but not that much more.
3. It is not the color you want. When you are buying a toy, make sure it is the toy you want.
Just my thoughts.

But when it comes to one selling their car here oh boy uh huh..yea ... "here is my 206 Z06 cammed./heads, with 59k miles on it.. I want 50k for it"

An 08 3LZ, 6200 miles in perfect shape as OP states.. 50k is not a bad price at all. He started at 59k and shaved 9k off the price, he wants to sell the car. You can always negotiate more if you want, but to me, that's a pretty fair price.
Further, 3 calls in a week okay might seem a bit agressive, but I've seen threads too where people get pizzed because the dealer sold the car out from under them, and didn't let them know, or call for follow up. You can't have it both ways
A black car , well that depends on how **** you are about how it looks. Plenty of folk very happy with that color.
Not a bad deal IMO

I went to the following online valuation site that offers very comprehensive and current realistic used car values, selected the "Appraise a Used Car" box and entered the car's specs and followed the links to get the values for trade-in, private party and dealer retail. I printed it out and took it with me to the dealer. The dealer discounted their asking price to match the Edmunds price that I showed them and I bought the car. I also used that site for the last two vettes I bought and got both of them at the edmunds.com trade-in value.
Try running the car you are looking at and see what you get. I think you will find the dealer is very high on his asking price.

Very good price for a 3LZ at under $50K, but it wouldn't entice me knowing the maintenance of a black car that you want looking good most, if not all the time...

Some cars, for whatever reason, are rarely available for the prices they are supposed to be worth based upon these various guides. I was checking on low mileage Porsches at one point and could not find one for sale anywhere near the guide book quotes. Also cars that are rare, like my old 2001 BMW M Roadster was sold for a lot more than these guides claimed the car was worth.
A car is worth what you, or someone else, is willing to pay for it. That is the bottom line.
And getting back to the color issue, black is a royal pain in the *** to keep looking great. My wife's car is a black Mercedes E 350 and it shows every flaw, dust, dirt spot or whatever. They can be kept beautiful with routine detailing, and you can pay a pro to do it if it is not your cup of tea. After a good detailing, black cars are beautiful.
I personally prefer a red car and would never be happy with a black Corvette. If you really like a particular color, I agree with most of the others, the deal does not matter if you are unhappy with the color. Get what you want, even if costs a few bucks more. You will be happier, and that is what is important.
KBB is owned by Autotrader and NADA is put out by the Automobile dealers Association and both tend to be inflated to satisfy the dealers needs to substantiate their asking prices. They seem to be based more on what people are asking than what they are actually selling for.
Edmunds is the only online value source that I have found that appears to be current and very comprehensive in their very detailed breakdown of their valuations.

I have Cyber Gray and get complements regularly. On a sunny day it is beautiful. Personally I like white one a lot also but prefer them with dark headlight buckets.
Regardless of either color, get what you want and don't settle.
)2008 3LZ 9K miles sold by Rick Conti a few weeks ago for $48,500.
I love the way black looks for the first 10 min after it is cleaned but after that it is all down hill.
