So I'm in Chipotle enjoying a burrito and happen to glance out the window and see a white truck scraping the side of my Z06! As I run out of the restaurant screaming like someone is kidnapping my child, the a-hole drives off and leaves me with a dumbfounded look on my face, like what the hell just happened. So I am left with a scraped up driver side mirror and door. My wife is my insurance agent and tells me that even though I carry uninsured motorist coverage, it will still count as a hit against me. So again I am left with this stupid look on my face! Bottom line is I want to know what kind of price tag I'm looking at to have the dealership repaint and clear the door and the mirror. Another concern of mine is I just finished upgrading the sound system and obviously I had to run speaker wire through the door... Are they going to be smart enough put it back together the way they found it? thanks for the info... one of the worst days of my life.

You didn't post any pictures...but if your door and mirror are just scratched and need to be refinished, it's going to run $400-$500 at a quality shop.
I might consider paying this one out of pocket to keep it off of CarFax...as it might hurt you down the road when it's time to trade/sell. I'm not suggesting that you hide the fact that the car had a prior collision repair, but some people see a any mark on a CarFax as "oh my God...this thing must have been hit by a freight train" and run away from your car before even looking at it.
Whatever you do, take lots of pictures of the damage. Then when you sell the car, you can show the new buyer how minor the damage really was. Lots of guys sell cars with a history of a "minor" cosmetic repair...but few have the photos to back up that story.

It doesn't sound like they will be removing the door for this repair...so don't worry about it.
This is correct. Someone hit my son's car and ran. I'm insured with USAA and it was filed under comprehensive. Paid the deductable and no increase in the rate.

Sounds like you need a different insurance carrier. You vehicle was parked, it was 110% on the other driver...you had absolutely NO control. You should not take any kind of hit or increase in rates. You were not at fault in any way shape or form, unless of course you were illegally parked, double parked or out of stall. Those might make a difference.
. . . me too. Sorry it happened and a Z06 at that.
So you are saying those of us with a base coupe are chopped liver and a truck scraping us is no big deal. Any car scraped by a jerk like this truck driver is damaged. Sorry but a Z06 is not more valuable than any other vette that might be damaged. Just my .02 worth.

YEAH! . . . . . Z06 as in a more expensive model to have fixed. As far as I'm concerned, even though I have my coupe, I consider mine to be a ZR1. So, keep your couple of pennies and start a fight with someone else .

Same here.I have State Farm as well. It is a hit-and-run, and is not your fault. Your insurance will have to pay, but it is not your fault and your insurance should not go up.
