I just got my vehicle back from the shop. I have switchbacks and LED tails on the car (have had the LED tails forever with no issues, switchbacks are newer). The right switchback is lighting up both the orange and the white bulbs.
Now to the problem. All signals work fine with the headlights on, but once they are turned off using the right turn signal makes the hazards go off (all exterior lights on the vehicle flashing). Left turn signal works fine, and using the hazard alone works fine. But turn the right turn signal on and it's like fourth of july outside of my vehicle (perfect timing huh?).
I could really use some help trying to diagnose this. The car is a 2007 and has a little over 26,000 miles and has been gently driven. The only thing I can think of is perhaps the right side DRL is bad and is causing this, but I don't understand how one bad bulb would make the hazards go off when you turn on the turn signal.
I'm interested to see what someone has to say about this, as i'm contemplating purchasing some "switch backs" as well. I currently am running white LED's on my DRL's... probably not the safest...at least with the headlights on for sure. I don't think its as visible and distinguishable as an amber turn signal would be. I'll be watching this thread to see what comes up. I hope you can find a resolution! Sounds like a real PITA.
LED's are a PITA. They do not work right unless they have the resistors. If you have the Eagle Eyes taillight LED, they will be fine as you found because they have resistors built in. But the front don't. So you have to install resistors in the circuit to cure these kinds of issues.
I did not want to chop up my front harness, so I ended up removing the front LED's - all these problem then disappeared.
Did you have the same issue with the hazard lights as I did? I can't understand how a lack of resistors on both sides would cause just the right side to set off all the lights on my car. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive with the lights off because of this, and I'm trying to figure out what is wrong to solve it asap.
We put in Spectre Workz carbon fiber headlights, LED switchback DRLs, HID fogs, 6000k lows, splitter, skirts, spoiler, diffuser (all in carbon fiber), Halltech DRED hood, carbon fiber roof and halo, and custom paint. Lots of work, I'm thinking its the LED on the right for the DRL that just doesn't look quite right that is the culprit. I plan on taking it to the shop this Friday if I can't fix it on my own before then.
