I ordered new Axle bolts for my 06, C6, A6 and was wondering if someone could tell me where they are located or if someone has a parts fische website I can go to. The parts are coming end of the week, but I have never been under the beast as of yet.
Someone provided me with the GM Part number, torque setting and the note about using red loctite already.

Thanks much. Just to confirm, I was told there is only one per side, does that sound correct?
Yes, BTW, I have a bit of bad news for you, in 2006 the axle nuts required a 33 mm socket. There was a problem with those nuts backing off so GM came out with a different thread design on the new nuts and they require a 34 mm socket.

There was no change from year to year and no change of thread, the change seems to be different suppliers the nuts and different manufacturers of the wrenches.
Some require 33mm and others need a 34mm but it's not by year or model.

me thinks I made a mistake. Some time ago I asked about this clicking noise in the rear end of my car. I was told to have the axle bolts re-tightened and given the torque amount. Took it to the garage they tightened them and noise went away.
Two weeks ago it started back up. Consensus on the forum was to not re-use them but replace them.
The response I got was: The axle nuts need to be replaced before re torquing, per GM recommendation. Tighten once only then replace. Add some loctit too and let sit for 24 hours.
I think I may have ordered the wrong parts now. I kept thinking bolts and now I re-read and see "nuts". I will do some checking with Gene at Parts Warehouse and see what I should have.

Thank you all
Thanks for clearing the subject up, I was confused so I didn't post because things didn't add up. It seems that you are on the right road in getting the right part, still afraid to say which one!
