I don't know that much about it- just heard somewhere to watch out for that as there have been issues with it ,hence the reason for my post here as I know that there a re a lot of folks with the C.A.I. set up.

Lots of sharp fellas hang out here.
I think what your referring to is the blow off which collects in the intake. That is why some guys install catch cans. The blow off is completely normal.
Anyone out there who have the aftermarket C.A.I.'s run into any issues with the oil film on them messing with the Mass Air Flow Sensor??
Or is this a myth / crock of B.S??
It is not BS or a myth. What you are referring to is the aftermarket CAI (cold air intake kits) that use aftermarket air filters that require oil to trap and make the air filter work.
Most of these aftermarket filters are re-usable meaning, when they get dirty you can wash them (most use soap/water or simple green cleaner), dry, and then re-oil.
Re-oiling is where people run into problems, if you put too much oil on the filter and saturate it, YES in fact, it will make your MAF go hay-wire and the car will throw a CEL, maybe even get some bucking/surging at idle, or erratic idle.
The trick is, you do need to make sure there is also Enough oil, so that the filter will work properly in trapping dirt and particles so they do not get into the intake manifold and your engine.
That was one of my other concerns( the cleaning). Have you used the simple green type liquid degreasers? I know they recomend using their product but using simple green or mean green would save a bunch of $$ over time

When I used an aftermarket filter before and cleaned it, I used the standard simple green cleaner you can buy at any grocery store or hardware store.
