Couple of days ago my 2005 Vert started acting strange on startup and shutdown. Instead of sweeping the speedo through the whole range, it paused at three or four points and the DIC displayed messages like SOFT 7.5, BOOT 3.2 and EEPROM 3.8. It displayed SOFT 7.5 again at shutdown. Searched for threads here and on the interwebs for an answer but didn't find any. Some suggested replacing the battery. I put mine on the battery tender for a day but it still had the problem.
Today, I discovered the cause. The RESET button was stuck in the pressed position (from when I reset the fuel economy history the day it started happening). Wiggled it a bit and it popped out, and the startup/shutdown sequences are back to normal. So, I'm posting the problem and solution in case any others run into the same issue.
