Default Pulling the Trigger

We got the final nod from the credit union yesterday so we stopped by after work and signed the paperwork on the loan. Next step is to make the 600 mile drive to Fort Worth in the Camaro (2010 SS/RS) to swap it out for the new car. We are headed out tomorrow.

I am a little concerned about what she'll look like because they couldn't get the CSR stripes I wanted for 7 to 10 days . I like the way they look on orange (found a picture here). We opted to go with the full length racing stripes because they could get them in time. I'm just not sure how it's going to look because I can't find a picture of one.

Anyways, the new car is a 2012 Grand Sport 3LT with ebony interior and Inferno Orange exterior with metallic black full length racing stripes. She's got dual mode exhaust and is an auto; also has painted calipers. In addition to the stripes, the dealer is also installing the GCA full width rear spoiler for us.

I'll need to figure out how to post pictures so I can be prepared when we return.

Congrats. Also, pictures are even easier with the photobucket app on your phone. Snap the pic, upload it with the app and share from there.

Default Pulled the Trigger!

Well, it's a done deal. We just got back from driving the Camaro out and the Corvette home.

There were no surprises at all with the deal. No, oops we didn't realize that you wouldn't qualify for that incentive. No, oops we don't think your Camaro is worth what you wanted.

It was fantastic. Sharon Ballard was my sales person in interent sales and the dealer was James Wood Chevy in Decatur, TX. I wouldn't hestitate to buy from them again. It was definately worth the trip!

Now, about the car. Sorry, I don't have pics yet. We just got back and it has 600 miles of bugs and brake dust on it that will come off tomorrow so I can take some pictures. I'll start a new thread once I get them.

Thanks so much to everyone for all the encourangement and for helping with my questions along the way of buying our new car,

-Bob George

How did it perform? Describe the difference between driving the Camaro and the Vette. How many times have you gone out (or into the garge) just to look at it?

Congrats.

The first two things you need to do........Read the Manual a couple times and get a Battery Tender.

Of course you can wash the car first, but these two things will save you from much angst/frustration.

Well I took her out and washed her. Then I took some pictures. I just posted them in a new thread.

So do I really need a battery tender if I drive it once a week?

I am going to read that manual. It's going to take a little time. It's pretty thick I also have to read the manual on the nav system. I think that will be a harder read...

The difference in driving the Camaro versus the Corvette. Well, the stiffness of the ride is pretty close. The Corvette is maybe just a little firmer going over those bumps in the road. The handling is better in the Corvette. I am going to have to watch those corners. Although the view out the back window is distorted, visibility in the Corvette is also better than in the Camaro. I can't really comment on the power difference yet because I have 900 more miles to go. The Corvette does have a lot more road noise though. I tried making a call with onstar and it couldn't understand what I was saying. It told me to roll up the windows Oh, the seats are much lower. I sort of "free fall" the last few inches into the seat. They just don't look as low as they are. The Corvette exhaust is louder when I first start it, but then it mellows out. Under cruising conditions, I can't really hear it just like in the Camaro. So far the only surprise has been the amount of brake dust on the car and that the seat backs are not power. I have a lot to learn about the car but so far, I am happy we stepped up to the Corvette.

Be sure to see my other post for the pictures. There's not another one like it on the forums that I have found

Many have gone to ceramic pads to virtually eliminate that GS issue. YOUR back seats aren't power??? Warranty issue--- get it back to the dealership first thing tomorrow morning. Have it towed.

You'll definitely want to use a battery tender, almost continuously when the car is not being driven. As **** Jockey
has pointed out, this will save you a lot of aggravation later on...GL !
