Hello everyone I have a 2010 Grand Sport Vert. The car is an automatic here lately when I drive when the car downshifts to 1st gear it's really really rough all other gears are fine. It seems like it wants to throw me out of the drivers seat when it downshifts. Is this normal?

When I had my '09 coupe w/A6, it would rarely downshift to first, unless I was in "D" (as opposed to "S") and had practically come to a stop.
Using "S" the car will downshift to 2nd at a stop, and you need to use the paddles to put it into 1st.
What conditions are causing the car to downshift to 1st, as the speed ought to be quite slow to do that ? Are you mashing the throttle
to force it down into 1st ?
2011 with A6 here. Using paddles, it's almost impossible to get a smooth shift into first. It either tries to rev-match, which gives you a lurch, or it seems to hesitate for a moment and then engage roughly. When left in shift-it-by-itself mode, the shifts down to first happen around 4-5 MPH and are pretty seamless.

It only does it when I'm in D. I figured it should be seamless I am def. going to call mt dealer on Monday and see whats going on.
The only time the A6 does not shift to first when you stop, is if you are using the paddles and you didn't do it manually.
In both Auto modes it does downshift to first when you come to a stop/around 5 mph.
There is no confusion the problem is when I'm in D, and the car downshifts to first it is very rough and it jerks almost everytime a very hard jerk. It is not a seamless downshift like all of the other gears.
