Owned the car for almost 5 years now.I'm the only driver and for s%#ts and giggles I tried the "B" fob. No responce, not even the door release. I stored the fob 40' away, in my office desk, from the garage. So does the fob need to be programed/reprogramed,new battery, both? Are they operable from the factory in a standard mode until programed by the driver?

As note, first thing is to replace the battery. It was programmed to the car at the factory, no reason for it not to work now....other than a dead battery. You can confirm by putting it in the glovebox slot with the buttons facing to the right and attempt to start the car. Just make sure the primary fob is far away to confirm it is using the second fob.

I'm with him. Test the #2 FOB by using the slot in the glove box. Be sure, as mentioned, that your #1 FOB is in another country away from the car. The car should start. If it starts, that shows that the FOB battery is dead. Replace it.

Actually, my car was the same way. Never even tried the "B" fob until a year after I had the car, and didn't work. Just did the quick programming method shown in the owers manual, and all was fine. I just automatically replace the fob batteries for this car every two years, as cheap, and better than being locked out.
