It is not the fuse. It is not the compressor. It is not the diverter box whatever that is. I have had this corrected twice under warranty. It is the "Actuator and/or Motor Electric - Temperature Door - Left", more commonly called the actuator, part #22754988 (mine is a 2009). The actuator door seizes up causing the hot air but it fixes itself in a short time and is very intermittent. It throws a diagnostic code (B0408) in the computer and is easy to diagnois. The dash does not have to be removed at all. This part is used in other Chevys and causes the same problem in other cars.

You mentioned that it fixes itself over time? So this is something that intermitantly fixes itself and then starts to mess up again?

Is this the actuator door that opens and closes for the ducts to provide heat or AC or is it the door that separates the driver's and passenger side?

You mentioned that the dash does not have to be removed, but do you know how the replacement is to be done? How do you access it? Is it difficult to change?

Thanks!

The Actuator was one of the things mentioned and checked in my friends 2012. It was not the problem and the problem was finally resolved by replacing the Compressor...

It's just intermittent. Doesn't really fix itself, just that it starts working again whenever it wants to.

I believe it is the door that opens and closes for heat or AC. The shop manual calls it the "Temperature Valve Actuator - Left Side". There is one on each side. Google the part number I gave and you can see the part. The cost is about $25-30 (more at the dealer). You could always go to the parts dept and look at the picture of it in their computer.

I had the work done under warranty so I didn't stand there and watch them, but I can tell you they billed 0.4 hrs labor. It appears in the shop manual that it is right behind the instrument cluster. Once you get the instrument cluster out it is just a couple of screws - however the new one needs to be recalibrated by removing the positive battery cable for a minimum of 60 seconds (or done thru the dealer's scan tool).

There are instructions on this forum on how to remove the instrument cluster. If this is something you don't want to tackle yourself, then it is time to find a good dealer.

Seems that if the compressor isn't working, then neither side would get cold air

The AC would pump out warm and cool and hot air. It had no consistency. So they discussed with Chevrolet several times. They added coolant and it was working per the dealership. They called my friend and said come get the car. My friend said go out and start the car and see if its still cool air. They did and called him back, it still shooting hot air. They said they had tried everything they knew short of replacing the Compressor. Finally they replaced the compressor and now only Cool / Cold air. This Corvette was less than a week old when this started. I am not all that knowledgeable on AC, I only know what was going on... Its been several weeks now and the AC continues to work good...

same intermittent problem with my 2012 gs. very frustrating. dealer kept it for a while until they could duplicate the problem. then they ended up replacing the compressor.

Thank god I found this thread. My 08 Z recently started blowing hot air from the drivers side only.....and on an intermittent basis. I was a tad warm in my car on saturday when it was 109.... I'll pull the fuse and see what happens.

Hopefully it was just one of those many electronic gremlins on this car. I already had a few of those, like engine not starting when pressing the 'start' button (gauges cycle but no cranking), and the stupid chime sounding continuously for no reason when I open the door. It SUCKS to wait 8 years to buy a 'problem-free' car, and get slapped with crap like that . Good luck man, and please keep us posted.
Have you found a fix for the chime going off for no reason? Mine does it intermittently.

I just started having an issue with my AC in my 3 month old 13 GS. The AC does not come on in AUTO mode for a least 5 minutes...I didn't wait any longer...It's F**king HOT here in FL. The AC comes on just fine when I take it out of AUTO mode and turn the fans on. It's blowing cold.

I read that somone suggested taking out the HVAC fuse while in Accessory position and put in back in but that did not resolve the issue.

I have an appt with the dealship in the AM and will keep you posted.
