Default Windshield Question(S)

I took a rock to the edge of my windshield on Saturday morning. By the time I was done with my meeting Saturday afternoon, there was a crack halfway across. Insurance is going to take care of it after deductible and I have scheduled an appointment with a glass guy who seemed to ask all the right questions - HUD, Satellite. I want to know if there is anything I should pass along to him that might be helpful. 2009 C6 Vert. Thanks in advance!

I think all the right questions were asked. My suggestion is to go with a genuine factory replacement windshield, not a substitute.

Thanks Larry. I am going to run it by the glass place this evening so they can look at it. I will request the factory replacement.

I'm pretty sure all the new windshields are HUD ready, unlike the early ones. So that might not be a problem, but it doesn't hurt to check they are actually using a new one. (The new ones have a HUD film over the whole windshield. The old HUD glass had it only where the HUD was reflected, the early non-HUD ones have no film at all.)

Safelite installed OEM GM glass in my ZR1 a year ago but the GM emblem had been clearly erased off. Extra $$$ if you want the GM emblem I am sure.

I would think it will be covered by insurance. Depending on the insurance company original equipment replacement, could be an issue. You might have to pay the cost difference out of pocket.

What you don't want is knock-off glass...as long as it is made by AP Technoglass (the oem manufacturer), PPG or LOF, it will be fine. The GM emblem doesn't matter.
