Flip-up headlights, or ones hidden behind flip-down doors, like wrap-around windshields and tail fins, were trendy, silly and impractical. I had a new '68 Pontiac Grand Prix with hidden headlights and thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread, but then I also owned a polyester leisure suit and had long sideburns. Times change and so do tastes, thank goodness.

I like the fixed lights and the past can keep the pop-ups. I've had to rebuild both mechanisms on my 1990 and I'd rather not do it again. If I could find a decent solution (aesthetically and functionally) for a fixed light setup I would probably take it.

I hate the flip ups. Seems like 60s-80s-style "gadgetry." I've seen WAAAAAAYYYY too many flip headlight vehicles with only one light up.
Hopefully that styling remains a part of the past.

I never cared for the C5...it looked like a Pontiac to me. When open, those 'hidden' headlights were about as ugly as you could get, weighed a bunch more, were less reliable, and just weren't as good a set of lights.

I thought i would miss them as did many c4 and c5 owners i know. However, once i got in a c6 and saw those light project on the wall in front of me that's all she wrote for the flip ups. These lights are so far ahead of what those are and were there can be no cmparison.I love these lights. Yes,they resemble FERRARI and ASTON MARTIN TOO for that matter.Who cares. They work well and that's all that matters.

With the advent of relaxed regulations, halogen lights, etc. flip ups became an anachronism. Glad to be rid of 'em.

I would hope that the C7 has blacked out headlights that when you turn them on...the electricity allows the blackout lights turn clear.
I've seen similiar ideas for glass roofs yet think it would give the look of a sleek hideaway headlight and no extra weight.
Popups are not needed and a blacked out headlight would look cool.
I have never been a fan of the look of the C6 headlight design (bulbs, bulb chrome rim etc) but I own the car for the rest of its look and high performance..
