I asked this a while ago but thought I would ask again.
Does anyone have modded seats with active cooling?
I know there are some aftermarket kits but I'd like to see it in a C6.
Thanks.
My new Acadia Denali and Sirerra HD Denali have cooled seats but the Chevy flagship car doesn't come option equipped...makes no sense! Seems like way to much trouble to adapt anything aftermarket.
Sorry, but I can't help with an answer to your specific question. I've gotta say, though, that I recently bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee with heated/cooled seats and they're fantastic. I'd have never thought that they were anything other than a useless gadget until actually owning them; I now realize how great they are in warm weather. Hopefully they'll be available on the C7.

My exact thoughts on my Sierra Denali HD with the heated steering wheel. I told my wife that must be the dumbest option ever....until I used it in cold weather. All of a sudden it was worth having.
Not a luxury car and never designed to be a luxury car. Everything added is more weight (bad), makes the car more expensive (bad), and is one more thing to go wrong (also bad).
much as I might like some things, forem. above is correct, especially about more things going wrong. from the pages of CF, we know just how many there are!
but I will say, if you take a trip during the summer, even a short one, a cooled seat would be a welcome addition. this may cause darts and arrows, but I'd give up something in return for that, maybe even HUD. ()
I would give up power seat controls for a cooled seat. I never move my seat anyway so why even have power controls? The cooled seats probably don't weigh that much anyway. If you live here in FL you understand how bad the problem is. My car is black on black too. If the C7 has them I'll put C7 seats in there.
Some folks here think that sports cars should not have any AC at all! No Auto tranny's either! I get the same attitude when I talk about auto window up here.
Actually it is not so hard or expensive for GM to do. Just put a (flexible) duct through the center console and into the seats. Not fancy but will get-r-done.
i think some people are masochists or something. Back in the day, air wasn't an option on the solid lifter 396 and 427 Chevelles, just the go fast stuff. If it was hot you sweat. I believe there is a Yenko Chevelle around that had a complete factory air conditioning unit installed. Sacrilege to many but that guy would still be smiling at the end of a hot humid day of driving. Our C6 seems fine and comfortable in the heat with just the air conditioning. Then again low 90s and humidity is about as bad as it gets around here. Arizona would be a different story.
I've priced them out, at $1600 for the heated and cooled seats I am considering them. One reason they are that much, you need perforated leather for the cooling element to work. So you can customize your seats when you get this package.

I have them in my DD ( 3 different settings) and whenever I use them I feel like I'm sitting on a wet seat. My wife uses it all summer long. I just can't get use to it.
All the 'cooled' seats I have seen are really ventilated seats, they have their own motor/fans and just draw air through the perforated leather. I dont think you can just blow air from the A/C duct through the seats, you would have moisture issues.
I do like the vented seats though, especially if you have remote start that kicks the AC and seat coolers on high from an 1/8 mile away on a hot day like my Ram or wife's Jeep.

Quite the contrary: The air coming out of the A/C is dehumidified. It would help evaporation, not cause moisture problems. I think seat coolers are really nice on a long trip . . . But I've never found the need for seat warmers, given the climate around here.

GM vehicles turn on the heated seat option from remote start in cold weather but not the cooled seat option in hot weather, you must turn them on manually.
And you wonder why Corvettes don't appeal to younger people? If the C7 is going to be a success both here and abroad, it needs to keep up with the luxuries that young buyers expect when they buy a $60K car. Having the "Old School" attitude will only attract older buyers, which is not GM's goal. Younger people like gadgets, and if GM does not recognize that, they will continue to only sell about 15,000 units a year, which is nothing to brag about.
